Morocco's ITF Presidency kicks-off
ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim met with Morocco's Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara, in Rabat to mark the beginning of Morocco's Presidency of ITF. Mr Kim met local media, including an interview for Le Matin (see "Best of ITF in global media" below). The year-long term will be the first time an African member country holds the Presidency, culminating in the ITF 2022 Summit on "Transport for Inclusive Societies" held in Leipzig, Germany, from 18 to 20 May 2022. Zero carbon supply chains
Our latest report assesses the potential of zero carbon supply chains via a case study of the freight transport chain linked to the port of Hamburg, Germany. It analyses initiatives taken to decarbonise freight transport and offers recommendations on accelerating the move towards zero carbon supply chains. Get the report and bring your questions to our "Ask the Author" session
A toolkit for gender equality
Gender equality is a crucial driver of development. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlight the persistent social, economic and political inequalities hindering the full potential of women. Gender analysis is the first step towards achieving gender equality. Last week Secretary-General Young Tae Kim launched a new project to help ITF countries - and beyond - to develop their own gender analysis for transport policies and support gender policy dialogue. Learn more and get involved
Stable inland transport infrastructure investment
Investment in inland transport infrastructure as a percentage of the GDP remained stable at 0.7% in the OECD during 2019. Our latest Statistics Brief shows China continuing to lead with a 5.5% share and remaining among the fastest-growing countries for volume of inland transport infrastructure investment. The Brief also reveals a shift in spending from roads to railways for several countries. Get the Statistics Brief
Reshaping aviation post-Covid-19
Thirty-five aviation experts from around the globe met at ITF, tasked with taking a long-term view of the pandemic's impact on the aviation sector. They aimed to identify policy recommendations to ensure that air transport emerges from the crisis more resilient and sustainable while maintaining the benefits of competition and reconnecting the world. Decongesting our cities
How can policy makers best choose congestion management measures to make our cities more liveable? Our new report looks at technologies like sensors, wireless systems, traffic light optimisation and trip planning data. We also explore how HOT lanes can control congestion and their effectiveness relative to other initiatives. Get the report and watch a recording of our "Ask the Author" session
New online resource for disabled drivers
Over one billion people live with some form of disability, but finding information about what is available to help them in different regions or countries can be difficult and sometimes impossible for those who need or want to travel by car. We teamed up with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to offer a new website showing options for people with special needs in different countries. Read the Media Release and access the "Disabled Motoring" website
ITF attracts new corporate partners
Swedish micromobility pioneer Voi and Korean transport security technology firm AutoCrypt are the latest cutting-edge companies to join the ITF's Corporate Partnership Board (CPB). Voi will work on helping to make urban mobility more people-centric and on sustainability issues more broadly. AutoCrypt bring expertise in intelligent transport systems, digitalisation and safety. Interest in CPB membership is booming, so watch this space and learn more about our engagement with the private sector
Policy guidance to hit climate targets
ITF work forms part of the new International Programme for Action on Climate (IPAC) that supports countries’ efforts to attain the objectives of the Paris Agreement by evaluating policies to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The tool leverages the OECD’s unique multidisciplinary and long-standing experience in evidence-based analysis. It builds on existing data and indicators, policy tools, advice and guidance developed by the OECD family. Find out more about IPAC
