Hello friends
We hope you are all doing well and looking forward to the better weather which is sure to come – we are ever hopeful!

We’ve been busy with the final outcomes of our Creating Connections project which we’ve wrote to you about last time.
Short Film
A short film about the Arts Council-funded Creating Connections project was launched on our digital platforms on 6 April to coincide with World Health Day.
The school children who received letters from older community members created characters and stories inspired by the letters. They made some amazing puppets and had real fun trying the shadow puppetry. Our filmmakers then took all the content and put it together in a short film which is still available to watch on our website and YouTube channel.

Podcast

We’re venturing into new territory! Listen to our new podcast series about our latest projects. These are informal discussions each month with Shermaine and Pragya, and with others involved to reflect and give us their perspective on the project, as well as spotlighting the stories that were created.

Tune in, relax and listen to your community.  An episode is released on the last Wednesday of the month for the next six months. You can listen to the podcasts here.

Maritime Radio Interview

Did you catch us on Maritime Radio on 6 April?
Pragya Kumar (Eltham Arts Projects Co-ordinator & Freelance Visual Arts Practitioner) and Shermaine Slocombe (Multi-disciplinary artist & educator) were interviewed by Duncan on the local radio channel, Maritime Radio, about particular highlights of the Creating Connections project and how it contributes to community well-being.

You can listen again to snippets of the interview on Twitter here, here and here.

This project was an experiment to understand if we can deliver a participatory, community project digitally and to establish the benefits and challenges to do so. We are very proud to have achieved our final outcome in spite of few hiccups.

So thank you to those who joined in all on behalf of the entire team. I hope you enjoyed being a part of this project and like the outcome that has been created.
Don't forget to share it with people around you. It might do its magic and bring a little smile to someone 😊

All letters from the project will soon be archived in the Eltham library and will be available for the entire community to access.
