Wed 16 June 2021:
A special update from Reading Borough Council on our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how you can help
A message from Reading Borough Council leader Jason Brock

We're working with the NHS to offer a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to anyone aged 18 or over who lives, works or studies in RG1 3**, RG1 5**, RG1 6** or RG1 7** and has not yet been vaccinated at all.

The programme will run in Reading from Thursday 17 June until Sunday 27 June inclusive, for that group of residents only.

In Reading we are seeing rising cases of COVID-19, including the Delta variant first identified in India. We know people who have not received a vaccine are more likely to become ill or be hospitalised as a result of catching the Delta variant, so in addition to extra testing, Reading Borough Council is working with the local NHS to ensure people in the most affected areas can get a vaccine if they have not yet had one.

The programme details are as follows:

  • Open to people aged 18 and over who live, work or study in postcodes RG1 3**, RG1 5**, RG1 6** and RG1 7** and have not yet had any dose of the vaccine.
  • The vaccine clinic is running at Reading Borough Council's Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading RG1 2LU. Please go to the main entrance on Bridge Street.
  • Open 9.30am-8.30pm every day from Thursday 17 - Sunday 27 June (inclusive).
  • No appointment is needed - just turn up between the hours listed above.
  • Please bring a mask to wear in the building and, if possible, proof that you live, work or study in the target postcodes.
  • Advice on accessing the venue and what to bring is below

Having two doses of the vaccine is the best way to protect you and your loved ones from COVID-19. If you have any questions about taking the vaccine or your personal medical circumstances talk to your GP, and you can find out more about the vaccine programme on the NHS website.

Finally, if you do live or work in those postcode areas listed above and have not yet taken part in the additional testing that we are doing, please do go and get yourself tested (unless you have had a positive COVID-19 PCR test in the last 90 days). The testing sites can be found on our website and will be open until the end of Sunday 20 June.

TARGETED VACCINATION PROGRAMME - ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

However if you are in the areas above and are therefore eligible for the additional targeted vaccination service, by coming to the Council Civic Offices you won't need to book and can be vaccinated straight away.
