The MSPA is a non-profit volunteer organization run by parents. Its purpose is to facilitate communication between parents and the school community and to raise and distribute funds to supplement programs and services for the JGMS students and school community. CHROMEBOOK RETURN THIS WEEK
For on-site students:
7th grade Chromebooks will be collected Tuesday, June 15th
8th grade Chromebooks will be collected on Wednesday, June 16th
Final sweep for all devices will be Thursday, June 17th
(6th grade Chromebooks were collected today Monday, June 14th)
For remote students:
Remote students need their devices through the end of the year; so all remote students will be returning their Chromebook to the high school next Tuesday, June 22nd. Details to follow.
PLEASE remind your child to bring in their Chromebook and CHARGER.
7th GRADE FIELD DAY MOVED TO THURSDAY
Due to the forecasted thunderstorms for Tuesday afternoon, the seventh grade field day has been moved to Thursday. It is recommended that students wear sunscreen, bring hats/visors, bring a water bottle, and wear closed-toe shoes for playing kickball. Please remind your student to wear their kickball team's color (red, black, blue, or white) T-shirt.
BPS VIRTUAL ART SHOW
The 27th Annual Bedford K-12 Art Show will be held virtually this year. While it is certainly not a similar experience as our traditional in-person event, this online gallery allows student work to be displayed and enjoyed by all families and friends world-wide! Thank you to our Art teachers who have been uploading thousands of student artwork to the online gallery. The Virtual Art Show will go live on Monday, June 14, 2021 at The 27th Annual BPS Art Show and will feature student work from Davis, Lane, JGMS, BHS as well as selected work from BHS alumni. Please be sure to visit the show to view the fantastic student artwork!
JGMS PRINCIPAL SEARCH UPDATE
Jonathan Hartunian has been appointed as the next Principal of John Glenn Middle School. Mr. Hartunian currently serves as Assistant Principal in the Belmont Public School district for grades 5-8 and has been a teacher, coach, and school administrator for the past 20 years. He will start his new position here in Bedford on July 1, 2021.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FRIDAY JUNE 18
The last day of school is Friday June 18. JGMS will be dismissed at 10:50 AM.
8th GRADE MOVING ON CEREMONY JUNE 16 6:00 PM
The Moving On event is for 8th graders and their immediate family and is an informal and fun celebration. All attendees are encouraged to wear their very best Luau outfits, shorts, sneakers, flip-flops...Please do not dress up and then have to sit uncomfortably on a blanket. A few very important directions and friendly reminders:
The event kicks off rain or shine at 6:00pm unless it is torrential weather, so bring an umbrella if it is raining.
Absolutely no chairs (folding chairs, beach chairs…), no pets and no heels are permitted on the turf. They will cause serious damage. If there are special circumstances or needs, families are welcome to sit on the away bleachers or the track. Please leave the pets at home.
Families need to bring a blanket on which to sit. Doors will open at 5:30. There are no space reservations and 8th grade students will sit with their families. Every seat is a “good” seat with your own blanket!
Parking is available at both the high school and in the JGMS rear parking lot.
In line with the revised mandates, spectators and 8th grade participants are no longer required to wear masks for outdoor events. However, masks are recommended for all who are not vaccinated.
Bedford Food Bank
The Bedford Food Bank at Town Center Building
Thursday, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
To assist and support Bedford residents in need, the Town of Bedford has established a temporary food bank at the Town Center Building (yellow building behind Town Hall) at 12 Mudge Way on the Town Campus.
Families and guardians of Bedford school children are welcome to continue to access Bedford's Food Bank. Please visit the Bedford Food Bank site for more information.
