Rep. Maxine Waters hires banking lobbyist as top aide

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), chair of the Financial Services Committee, has chosen a financial lobbyist as her chief of staff.

Chasseny Lewis comes from Credit Suisse, where she was director of U.S. public policy. She lobbied on taxes, banking and financial services for the Swiss investment-banking and financial-services firm, which lost billions of dollars in this spring's Archegos Capital collapse.

This isn't Lewis's first time at the head of a congressional office. Before leaving for the private sector, she was chief of staff to Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) and has also worked for Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) and Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.).
