Shoreline Lake July 4th

Long July 4th Weekend

Although the City's annual fireworks display is cancelled for 2021, enjoying a relaxing Independence Day at Shoreline Lake is still very much a possibility. Besides watersports classes and other outdoor activities for adults and kids at the Boathouse, the American Bistro is launching their summer menu this weekend, along with some special July 4th items.

Unfortunately, no late night boating will take place this year. With regard to hours, on July 4th, the Park will close at dusk, as per usual. However, weekend hours will be in effect for both the Boathouse and Bistro through Monday, July 5th. (NB! Last rentals go out one hour before closing.)

This gives visitors a chance to take advantage of all that great sunshine, and have fun on-the-water, or maybe just get a much deserved break by-the-water. If you need additional info, please check out the Hours & Directions page, which also has contact information for the Boathouse and Bistro.

Shoreline Lake Bastille Day

Celebrating July 14th

Have we mentioned that Bastille Day (Wednesday, July 14th) makes for a great way to mark the middle of summer at Shoreline? Envision a Georges Seurat painting – boats on the water, a view of nature...and perhaps a glass of wine with friends and family on the Bistro patio.

To commemorate France's Independence that day a bit more, the American Bistro will be highlighting their house-made French pastries. These classics include hand-made croissants, brioche, tarts, galettes, and other real French pastries, in a display of gastronomic artistry.

Bistro patrons are fond of these treats... If you need to pre-order pastries for your own special occasion (or just need a larger order), please contact the Bistro (650-965-1745 and bistro@shorelinelake.com).

Shoreline Lake Best of Mountain View Winner

"Best Of" Winner for 2021!

A big thank you goes out to Mountain View Voice readers! It looks like, once again, you gave Shoreline a place in the winner's circle for the annual "Best Of Mountain View" awards.

We were told that this special Mountain View Voice publication comes out on July 23rd.  As in the past, Shoreline won in the "Fun Stuff" category (anybody surprised?), and was awarded "Best Place for a Date" and "Best Place to Take a Visitor" for the variety of activities, both on water and land, and our unique blend of tranquility and fun.

We very much appreciate your support. And, once again, thank you very much!

Kids Programs Updates
Shoreline Lake Summer (Kid+Teen) Camps

Summer Camps Almost Full

Most of the Kid & Teen Summer Camp Programs are now sold out for this year. There are still, however, some spaces left (later in July and the early part of August) for Camp Shoreline, Advanced Windsurfing & Sailing, Advanced Sailing, and Performance Sailing

To get your child(ren) into camp for these remaining mid- to late-summer spots, we recommend registering them today. Also, Shoreline's online registration system does provide a waitlist option that helps us with setting up new groups, if needed. (NB! Please be aware that Camp Shoreline's groups are smaller due to its STEAM-based design.)

If you need additional information or have questions, please contact the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com or 650-965-7474).

Shoreline Lake Kids Intro SUP

New Kids SUP Class

As another alternative, Shoreline just rolled out a new "Intro SUP for Kids" class, thanks to feedback from parents – to create a course specifically geared towards kids ages 8-13. Since this is a pilot, two sessions of this one-day class are scheduled this summer (July 11th & August 14th, both 9-10:30am).

Please note that registration for these sessions is limited to kids only. The goal is to provide a kid-centric learning environment that focuses on easy-to-learn basics, and having a fun time on the water practicing those new skills. And, introducing younger kids to a sport like this on safe, calm waters is a perfect way to do that.

To learn more, or if you're interested in Shoreline offering additional sessions, the Kids Programs staff is happy to help. They can be reached via the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474).

Shoreline Lake Kids Advanced Windsurfing Camp

Advanced Windsurfing Camp?

Speaking of parent feedback, we've also had some inquiries about providing a dedicated Windsurfing Camp for kids ages 11-15, who receive counselor approval (after completing both the Beginner and Advanced Windsurfing & Sailing Camps).

A few ducks need to line up, but, right now, it looks like the new camp sessions (5 days each, from 2:30-4:30pm) will be held over the weeks of July 12th and 26th, and August 9th.

The groups will be limited to 8 campers per session, with a specific focus each day on individual advanced windsurfing skills using high performance gear – involving rigging, planing, harness use, footstrap techniques and beach starts.

Given the prerequisites, currently Kids Programs staff will be handling registration directly. To register your child for these sessions, or inquire about adding future sessions, please contact the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474).

Watersports Anytime
Shoreline Lake SUP & SUP Yoga

Additional SUP Classes

If you prefer to take a Stand Up Paddleboarding class along with your kids (or vice versa), the standard Intro SUP course is open to ages 8 years, and up. This course covers the paddling skills, proper movement, and other techniques that will help you glide across the water in no time. It's also a workout, and a fun way to explore the lake.

Looking for an even more challenging workout? There's always SUP Yoga. Besides adding another dimension to your yoga practice, it's a great way to unwind, and also truly focus on achieving core stability and strengthening. And, given the continuous need to adjust balance and achieve perfect alignment, this course also helps reinforce proper SUP technique.

Online registration is available, and Shoreline offers both the Introductory SUP and SUP Yoga Classes on weekends. For more details, or if you have questions, please contact the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474).

Shoreline Lake Watersports Classes

Other Watersports Classes

Also appropriate for adults, as well as teens ages 14+, the other group classes are an option if you want to take a class with your kids, or if you need some flexibility scheduling activities for them this summer.

Shoreline offers group weekend and private courses (besides SUP and SUP Yoga), in Sailing, Kayaking, and Windsurfing – from beginner to advanced, that go into November. Registration is available online for the group classes. And, if more convenient, all of these Watersports classes can be purchased via gift cards, for use at any time.

Private and semi-private instruction allows for greater flexibility in scheduling and options; however, registration may require a skills assessment (performed by a Boathouse instructor first).

To register for private instruction, or obtain additional information, please contact the Boathouse (boathouse@shorelinelake.com and 650-965-7474).
