June 2021 Braking News
from the Rockland Bicycling Club

Here are Five Things to Know this month about riding in and around Rockland County.
  1. Vuelta a Rockland (EASTERN TIER) was "Veni, vidi, vici..." with vittles! About 30 RBC members came, saw and conquered a few hills and threw back some libations in the season's first Vuelta a Rockland ride on May 15. The Vuelta series combines good eats and great rides. Stay tuned for news about the next event in the series.

  2. Mark your calendars for the July 24 RBC Invitational. This new event invites area cyclists to ride with us on some of Rockland's scenic roads. There will be A, B and C groups for three different routes (30, 40 & 50 miles). The day includes lunch ($10 for RBC members, $20 for non-members) and a chance to ride and hang with city and suburban cyclists across the region. Sign up on the Events page at RocklandBicyclingClub.org
  1. Cycling & The Law - What you need to know about your legal rights as a cyclist: Personal Injury attorney Chris Patsos spoke to the RBC on June 9 about legal issues surrounding cyclists' rights and responsibilities. ICYMI, you can watch a recording of that webinar on YouTube

  1. "Ain't no cure for the summertime blues?"  The RBC has a convenient remedy.

Every Monday and Thursday during the peak riding season, the RBC hosts a Rockland Lake ride at 6p. Ride the dozen or so miles with the group or on your own at whatever pace your prefer. If you are new to group riding, this is a great way to meet club members and chill out at the end of the day on the relatively car free and carefree roads around Rockland Lake.

Meetup at Parking Lot #5. Pre-registration required at RocklandBicyclingClub.org. Not a member yet? Email RocklandBike@gmail.com for details and to sign the club's waiver before the ride.
