in celebration of light
moving through the lens of water
the wonder of the rainbow
emerges

isn't it always
about relationship

me and you
she and her
him and they

this body that mostly feels like one thing
paused as it rounded the chicken coop
taken by the show of color
i shed my fear and existed
breath slow, heart open

an arc of stardust
an atom of change
a dream
diverse
curious
a creation of divine experience
myself, you, lovers, beloved
the rainbow.

Yoga Friends. It appears to be time for me to step away from the space that has held us for almost a decade. I am grateful for the friends and calm, kind energy that has been a part of my experience at The Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness. While I will miss the center, I am excited to introduce you to Sanctuary Yoga Studio - a blessing for me this past year. To be able to rest into a space dedicated to the practice and offering of yoga helped me hold my focus for all of you who have attended online. I have had support in the technical journey as well as a safe and sweet spot away from home in which to offer my teaching. To Véronique, I am so grateful.

Beginning in July, I will be offering in-person attendance for our Tuesday morning class. We will start with six spots and feel it out together. I think that eight to ten will prove to be comfortable. I look forward to sharing space with you when and if you are ready. My hope is that by taking it slow and easy we will increase our awareness, our appreciation and support healing in our bodies and minds. Please reach out to me via email to reserve a spot in July. You will also be able to join class via zoom if you are interested in accessing yoga from home. Feel free to send me feedback as we navigate new territory here.

When you arrive at the studio, you willl be greeted with beautiful gardens that are tended with enthusiasm and love. Upon entering, please take off your shoes by the door before coming into our practice space. The studio has two large sliding doors that look out onto a patio, garden and plenty of wildlife visitors. The floors are cork so you may be interested in bringing an extra mat or a thicker mat for a little more cushion for knees and spine. Please bring a couple of blocks and a blanket as we aren't sharing items at this time. We will open the sliders during class for air flow.

  • If you have been vaccinated, you are not required to wear a mask during our practice time together.
  • If you feel most comfortable wearing a mask, please know that this is welcomed.
  • If you are feeling unwell (even in a 'coming down with something' or 'getting over something' way), please stay home and join us online if you feel that movement will be good for you. You will have more time to rest as you tend to yourself and  your community!
  • If you have major travel or large indoor gatherings planned, please create a little space around your return to indoor class or choose to wear a mask for the comfort and safety of your fellow students.
  • We will be distancing at first and slowly moving closer to each other as our nervous systems settle and science continues to support this choice.
  • Please let me know if you are diagnosed with Covid so that other students can be informed of possible exposure and make healthy choices for loved ones.
If you have any questions or feel that I am missing an important piece to re-engaging, please send me an email or give me a call for conversation. I am open to your thoughts, concerns and support!

A New Space
  • Being back in the session room and seeing some of your faces for the first time in over a year has been - delightful and soothing to my heart. I have missed you.
  • I feel so fortunate to be able to invite you to visit me at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center (900 Peeler St) where I will be offering massage and bodywork through the summer months. This is the same address for The Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness. However, it will be best to park in the upper lot off of Peeler Street to enter. As you face the building, the entrance for my new space is all the way to the right - next to Kalamazoo Anesthesiology.
  • When you enter the building, the restroom will be down the hall before entering the Ayurvedic Wellness Center. Please use the restroom to wash your hands before coming in.
  • AWC is asking that we continue to wear masks in common areas. Please wear a mask upon entry as you will be arriving in a community storefront space for the Ayurvedic Wellness Center. Cora will greet you, invite you to leave your shoes in a designated area and answer any questions you may have.
  • Cora will let me know that you are here and I will walk you back to the session room when the space is ready for you.
  • I am grateful to Kara Aubin and Christine Anderson for working out the details and welcoming me into their space as I rest into my work with each of you.

A New Rhythm
  • If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask during our session time. I will continue to wear a mask for your comfort and safety until more information emerges. If you prefer to wear a mask, I will support you in this.
  • You will be asked to fill out Covid related forms at the beginning of our session time. These forms state that you understand the risks of being in a small space with another person during this time. You will also be asked the standard Covid screening questions.
  • Please call me to reschedule without any payment penalties, if you are having any Covid symptoms, are otherwise feeling unwell or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. As we are in such a small space for a length of time, I prefer to be on the cautious side to protect all of my clients.
  • Please schedule a window of time between major travel or large indoor gatherings and your scheduled sessions. Wearing a mask during session time is another option if timing is an issue.
  • If I am feeling ill or if someone in my immediate family is ill, I will cancel and re-schedule all sessions until it appears safe for me to resume. It is time to hit the pause button when we are ill my friends!
  • I understand that as a fully vaccinated individual, the CDC no longer requires me to quarantine if I have been exposed to Covid. However, I would rather play it safe with your health and will share information if the need arises.
  • There will be an air purifier running in our session room.
  • There will also be a window open for air circulation.
  • I will sanitize high touch areas and the table between sessions.
  • I will use new bedding, blankets and covers for each session.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available and I will use it before beginning our session.
  • If there is anything that would help you feel more comfortable about scheduling, please call or email me to start a conversation.

Costs have been rising including rent, extra linens, cleaning supplies and the prices of other massage therapists in the area. If you have any difficulty with the increase, please initiate a conversation with me so that we can agree on a rate that honors your income and needs in the same way that it honors mine. I do not expect tips from my clients and I am also very grateful for those I receive. For those of you who can support the full rate and/or tips, please know that you will also be supporting those who have less available income but long to take care of themselves with the work I offer.
Mom and Lucas at drop-off for Lu's 8th grade class trip at the Manistee River Loop Trail up north. Lucas has continued to attend in person and outside (yes, through the winter) at Kazoo School and will be attending Loy Norrix next year. Raidan  completed on-line classes, even though it was sometimes a struggle, and is looking forward to Conservation Biology next year. I appear to be shrinking these days as our kids become the tallest members of the family. The horizon is pointing towards their next steps and one thing the pandemic has made clear to me is that it is time to dive into the sweetness of their presence with all of my heart and attention! I will be doing my darnedest to maintain more space for my kiddo's, my creative time and home-cooked foods while showing up to my work with presence, curiosity, patience and the ever present desire to support each of you through the realm of connection.
