Meet Alex Cherepakhov, Chief Executive Officer of First Priority Group, Electrified!

FPG Electrified (FPGe) is a division of First Priority Group that focuses on electrification of light- and medium-duty emergency and specialty vehicles. FPGe assists fleets with grant research, fleet configuration, charging infrastructure, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) integration, fleet data visibility, project management and energy storage.

FPGe's role in clean transportation advocacy in the region is:
"By focusing on specialty and emergency electric vehicles, FPGe allows law enforcement and first responder agencies to promote the advancement of fleet electrification and advanced vehicle technologies throughout New York."

What: NYC Parks 32nd Annual Equipment & Vehicle Show
DATE CHANGE: Wednesday, September 22, 2021

NYC Fleet will be hosting the 32nd Annual Equipment and Vehicle Show on Wednesday, September 22nd in Flushing Meadows Park.

Funding Opportunities

U.S. DOT Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to apply for $1 billion in discretionary grant funding through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grants. Deadline to apply: July 12th, 2021.
NYSERDA Clean Transportation Prize funding will support electrifying transportation, reducing air pollution, and enhancing clean mobility in disadvantaged communities across New York. Deadline to register as a team: July 22nd, 2021.
Provides 50/50 matching grants to New York cities, towns, villages, and counties for eligible climate change mitigation, adaptation, and planning and assessment projects. Deadline to apply: July 30th, 2021.
Supports projects that strengthen and modernize port infrastructure and shore-side wind energy projects. Deadline to apply: July 30th, 2021.
New York State Volkswagen Settlement Funds: Current Programs
Rebate incentive funding is now available for fleets and businesses in NYC Industrial Business Zones (IBZs) for the replacement of older, diesel-fueled trucks with alternative fuel or electric vehicle technologies. Funding available from $12,000 to $185,000 per truck replacement, depending on fuel type and truck class size.
NYTVIP provides vouchers to fleets across New York State for the replacement of older diesel vehicles with the purchase or lease of electric, conventional hybrid electric, compressed natural gas, or propane medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Voucher amounts are based on a percentage of the incremental cost of the vehicle.

What We're Reading
Deadline 6/19: Testimony for NYC TLC Public Hearing
On Tuesday, June 22nd, New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is holding a public hearing for the proposed changes to an exemption of Local Law 147. The law paused the issuance of new FHV licenses by TLC, with an exemption for wheelchair accessible vehicles and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The hearing will determine whether the exemption is changed to no longer allow new licenses to BEVs. Learn more about the proposed rules here. "Bronx man who serves his community gets free e-bike for more 'equitable commute'"
The Equitable Commute Project, a coalition of transportation and community groups, awarded their first electric bicycle to an essential worker in the Bronx. The Project aims to subsidize up to half the cost of electric bicycles and scooters to essential workers and low-income New Yorkers.
"Why Electric Vehicles Are ‘Greener’ Than Ever In All 50 States"
According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, global warming emissions related to EVs has fallen by 15% since 2018. For 97% of the U.S., driving an electric car is "greener" than a gasoline-powered model that gets 50 mpg.
