QHBA - Deputation to Council re Planning Fees & Application Process

Recently the QHBA requested a deputation before Council at the June 22 Regular Meeting of Council in the County.  This deputation relates to the Planning Fees and Application Process feedback that we provided to County Staff earlier this month in response to the proposed changes.  President, Jon Van Huizen and Builder/Developer Advisory Group Co-Chair, Angelo Puglisi will be presenting on behalf of the QHBA for the deputation.

OHBA Continues to encourage conversations on Pay on Demand Surety Bonds in Municipalities across Ontario.

Read the updated Pay on Demand Surety Bond GR Document here.

OHBA is continuing to push for the municipal uptake of Pay-on-Demand Surety Bonds (PODSB) to secure Municipal/Sub division Agreements. While continuing to push this with the provincial government to implement province wide, it is also important to help build momentum for this idea by meeting with local municipal planning departments and councils. So far, 4 municipalities in Ontario have accepted the use of PODSB and we hope to grow that number.

OHBA will be engaging members in the surety space for their insights and will also ask for your local EO expertise and partnership in approaching local municipalities. Step one will be to connect with local municipal officials and a few local members who have strong relationships with the local municipality.

Commentary: As you know, the City of Quinte West is working on finalizing the PODSB as an option and the City of Belleville is interested in learning more on offering this as an option.  In addition, the QHBA has shared Pay on Demand Surety Bond information with the Municipalities of Brighton and Greater Napanee. We look forward to sharing more on this topic as it becomes available.
