DRM to Launch Energy Savings Tool Checking System
The DRM Consortium has just developed a comprehensive and user-friendly calculator tool to determine how much energy can be saved by switching transmitters from analogue to digital DRM operation. The Energy Efficiency Calculator will be launched at a showcase event on June 30th,1100 BST (1000 UTC). Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Resumes its DRM-FM Test Transmissions
The Pakistani public broadcaster resumed its test DRM-FM transmissions. The PBC transmission is comprised of 3 audio streams from a single 1KW (60watt DRM) transmitter placed at the PBC headquarters. It delivered excellent quality in the surrounding areas of Islamabad.
As a next step the content will be completed with: Station logos, DRM Text Messages including Title Artist provision, Journaline for Information, News, Updates, Sport results and traffic announcements in multiple languages, Emergency Warning Functionality (EWF) and Distance Learning.
PBC has already a comprehensive three-stage project to digitise its MW and FM network with DRM. On May 18th the Pakistani Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain visited Radio Pakistan Headquarters and had a detailed briefing on working of the national institution and its Podcast Programme and DRM projects.
On this occasion the PBC authorities briefed the minister on the DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) project.
Minister Fawad said the DRM would transform Radio Pakistan on modern lines, adding the project would prove to be a milestone in expanding its network to the far-flung areas of the country. Read More. Local media
