U of A Team wins the World's Challenge Challenge!

Fentagone has placed first at the World's Challenge Challenge global finals at Western University. This is the first time a U of A team wins the global finals. The team has been awarded $30,000 towards their project. Earlier this year, Fentagone won the Telus Innovation Challenge, which had a first place prize of $100,000. The team's idea is focused on developing a 1mL syringe that allows users to gain feedback on whether the drug in use contains fentanyl. You can read more about their project here. Congratulations to the team!

Students wishing to thrive in our culturally diverse context can do so through the Certificate in International Learning (CIL). This Certificate, a collaboration between University of Alberta International and the Faculty of Arts, combines course work with intercultural experiential learning, as well as opportunities to develop global leadership skills.

This month, 88 students from ten faculties will convocate with the CIL, the largest cohort since the program began in 2013.  For the last six years, the program has been under the academic direction of Dr. Odile Cisneros, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies.  Dr. Cisneros will be completing her term as Academic Director at the end of this month.  Our thanks go to her for her passion and leadership which have brought such great results!

Congratulations to all our spring grads -- we wish you great success and hope the CIL will help you navigate the future.
