COVID-19 Numbers Increase
Featuring Dr. Aguilar-Gaxiola
Experts say there is an alarming increase in infections with coronavirus in Los Angeles.
Dr. Aguilar-Gaxiola, from UC Davis Health, said he agreed with the new measure of mandatory use of the masks in indoor spaces due to the increase in cases of the virus. Likewise, the specialist pointed out that every day it is confirmed that the delta variant of the coronavirus is even more contagious than previously believed.  Watch the full story at Univision LA: HERE  (Spanish Broadcast)

Sacramento County has the third highest rate of COVID cases in the state, with 11.5 cases per 100,000 people in the past seven days. The county's COVID-19 vaccination rate is about 50%, well below the statewide rate of 63%. UC Davis Health experts caution that the Delta variant should be taken very seriously.

Multicultural Mental Health Summit
August 25th
The purpose of the Multicultural Mental Health Summit is to provide participants with the most innovative information and modalities that are currently being implemented in the communities as best practices as well as community-defined evidence-based practices. A Black and Latinx Pre-Nursing Conference
The Breaking Down Barriers Conference is aimed at promoting the nursing profession in Black and Latinx communities and is hosted by the Black Nurses Association and the Sacramento Chapter of National Association of Hispanic Nurses. This virtual pre-nursing conference seeks to aim at promoting the nursing profession in Black and Latinx communities. Register online: HERE
Health Equity Academy 
Leaders for Tomorrow's Healthcare
The UC Davis School of Medicine, Office of Student and Resident Diversity hosts the Health Equity Academy via Zoom, for socioeconomically disadvantaged high school students to learn more about medicine/healthcare. Students will get to meet essential healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and current medical students and learn how to become a future healthcare leader through collaborative projects and activities. Seeking Program Coordinator
for Prep Medico!
The Program Coordinator for the Office for Health, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (HEDI), will be responsible for providing support for the Director of the Prep Medico and Pipeline Program. Involves designing, conducting, promoting, evaluating and supporting health professions education's Prep Medico programs in compliance with organizational objectives. Supports undergraduate learners in areas such as curriculum, teaching and learning activities virtually and in person class settings, scheduling clinical rotations, core competencies, assessment and evaluations.
