Welcome to our new chair and committee
The Superyacht UK AGM in May provided a welcome opportunity to meet and hold planned elections for our committee. We are pleased to announce that Stephen Hills from Pendennis Shipyard was appointed as chair, succeeding Jeff Houlgrave from Marina Projects.
Stephen (pictured right) graduated from Southampton University and is a Chartered Naval Architect. Prior to joining Pendennis’s board in 2010, he worked for 20 years at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
He has been very closely involved with a wide range of yachts including the UK’s largest projects such as MY VaVa II, MY Sarafsa, lengthening M5 (formally Mirablella), MY Aquila and MY Lady E as well as smaller vessels such as the iconic Global Challenge fleet of 67ft and 72ft sailing yachts and Tamar and Seven Class lifeboats.
When not at work Stephen enjoys fishing, shorthanded offshore racing, Falmouth working boats and family cruising holidays – all active interests that relate closely to the many aspects of British Marine and Superyacht UK.
Stephen says: "Speaking for all members I'd like to thank Jeff for his leadership of Superyacht UK as well as the committee for their invaluable support through a very challenging time for everyone. Superyacht UK has once again proved its strength in depth by electing a very talented and experienced group of 14 to the committee. Alongside Vice Chairs Kiran Haslam of Princess Yachts and Ken Hickling of Viking Recruitment, I look forward to ensuring Superyacht UK continues to support its members' endeavours and to build on its success and profile globally."
