Last week, I shared the Watermelon Hat as a work-in-process. It was supposed to look like a wedge of watermelon. However, as I worked further on shaping the hat, I wasn't happy with how it flowed. It just looked so awkward. So, I changed my plan and draped it differently, adding two parallel creases that curve over the crown. Now, the red part of the melon works more gracefully with the green part.
Sometimes, a change of plan happens. One needs to listen to the hat. She says that she's a 'fedora' so, that's where I put her on the website. But, what do you think?

My digital collages have many inspirations. Can you guess what inspired these two fruit ones? Pop music!
The Raspberry Bandleader was inspired by Prince, whereas, the Strawberry Cowl is an homage to a Cranberries, album cover. Both collages were part of an Instagram Challenge organized last summer by the amazing Josephine Dervish, founder of the Joyous Dressing Movement.

PS: Hey, do you know about the Fibre Arts Take Two video series of artist interviews? I just watched the one about sculptural feltmaker Kristy Kun. She went from working in wood to wool! So fascinating to see other makers' journeys!
