Welcome to the Market!

The Stop’s Farmers’ Market is on its 5th week and we love hearing the market chatter, smelling the fresh artisanal breads and fresh brewed coffee and having our sights tantalized by the seasonal and colorful produce each week!

Market Reminders

  • No dogs are permitted at the market as per Toronto Public Health Guidelines (guide dogs are permitted). However there is a dog park or space to tie up dogs outside the market while you shop!
  • Masks and social distancing are mandatory inside market perimeters. Please help keep each other safe.
  • We encourage you to bring your own re-usable bags to shop with.
  • Please do not linger in the market as we have a limited market capacity. As much as we would love for you to stay, we would love to keep a steady flow in the market to keep letting patrons in.

COVID Update

Although we wish that the Step 1 of the Ontario Re-Opening Road Map guidelines would allow for an increased customer capacity, we have received explicit guidance that the customer capacity must remain capped at 25%, or 52 people in the market at a time, until we move to Step 2. Please remember to pre-order when possible; to shop alone or in pairs and as efficiently as possible; and to move through the market space quickly, leaving your food and drinks closed until you leave the market space.

Also, don’t worry if you see a line outside the market! The average wait time once you’re lined up by the dog park is less than 5 minutes, and the decreased number of people within the market means no wait times once you’re inside.

Please remember to do a COVID self-assessment, review our COVID protocols on our website, and to prepare a properly fitting mask (covering your nose to your chin) before you visit the market. Thank you for helping to keep our farmers safe!

Who's at the Market this Saturday, June 19th 2021?

Check out our vendors' profiles, order in advance and pick-up at the market or browse the selection and plan your shopping list!

What's in Season?

It's not too late yet to plant your seedlings outside! The warm weather has finally stabilized and it's a perfect time for you to head over to Urban Harvest at our market and grab your favorite vegetable and herb seedlings to experience the fruits of your own labor.

Hot Garden Tip: Don't have a lot of room for your plants? Try Companion Planting, a method to grow complementary plants together that act as pest repellants, add beneficial nutrients and encourage helpful growth!

Online Ordering and Pick Up

Many of our vendors have set up online ordering systems; you can find the links below through their websites. This is a great way to make sure you get your strawberries while keeping your shopping time down. Please note that some vendors are using our order pick up service, in collaboration with the Toronto Farmers’ Market Collective, at the market exit.

Orders can be picked up at the pickup depot between 8 am and 12 pm. Please make sure to confirm your pickup location when you place your orders; some vendors are doing pick ups at their stalls.

Plan Ahead Your Route with our Market Map

  • Please click here to see our Market Map and corresponding Vendor List for this Saturday, June 19th, 2021. Please not there is only one-way traffic in the market so plan your market route ahead with our map!

Vendor Spotlight

Amina AbNa Alfred is the magic behind Lady Hummingbird Culinary Arts, one of the market's newer vendors who joined the team last summer offering delicious and creative vegan and plant-based foods that are truly culinary pieces of art! Lady Hummingbird has officially been operating for 3 years, but Amina has been cooking since the age of 9.

What inspires your food?
I am inspired by my city first and foremost. By the people of different cultures that I know and meet, and from my own lived experience as a first-generation Canadian born to parents from Trinidad and Tobago located in the Caribbean. I am inspired by the science and art of food, and the plethora of flavours that one can achieve by experimenting and study. I am inspired by the stories and history that food carries across the globe and I enjoy juxtaposing non-traditional pairings in hopes of creating a memorable sensory experience.

What are your goals for Lady Hummingbird?
My goal is not just to satisfy but reimagine what plant-based food can be. It is to empower and encourage people to implement more plants into their diet using a variety of my products. I often hear people complain that vegetables and legumes are boring and bland, however with understanding cooking time and temperature coupled with my spice blends, marinades, and sauces, one will find new life, excitement,
and enjoyment when it comes to preparing vegetables and protein alternatives.

Check out Lady Hummingbird this Saturday at the market and choose from her sweet and savory selection of treats and prepared meals and vegan ice cream made on site! Stay updated and follow Lady Hummingbird on Instagram!

Supporting Our Wider Market Community

We know our Farmers’ Market community is tight-knit and kind and want to extend the love to our fellow markets. Although TC Tibetan Momos are not vendors at The Stop’s Farmers’ Market, many of you will know Lhundup and Tsewang from other markets, including Dufferin Grove Organic Farmers’ Market, Evergreen Brickworks Farmers’ Market, and Trinity Bellwood’s Farmers’ Market. Lhundup was recently discharged from the ICU after a severe case of COVID. We’re happy to hear that he is recovering, but he is still very ill and unable to work.

Anne Freeman at Dufferin has set up a fundraiser to support Lhundup and Tsewang while he recovers, which you can find here. If you would like to support them, you can make a donation at the link when the Dufferin market online store is open from Saturday at noon until Tuesday at noon; outside of those times, you can send an e-transfer to manager@dufferingrovemarket.ca and mention Lhundup in the comment section.
