“Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?” (Mk 4:41)

Dear Friends,

Peace of Christ and I hope this note finds you well in these beautiful summer days of June. In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that He is “Immanuel,” our God who is always with us. Even though at times it can seem like our Lord is quiet or isn’t acting amidst the storms, somehow if we keep Jesus close things will work out in their own mysterious way.

Our deepest desire as your priests is that the whole world (and at least starting with our little part of the Kingdom!) would come to know the peace that comes from a friendship with Jesus Christ. It is a peace that the world can never fully give, for it comes from God alone.

To that end, we are excited to let you know that we will have another priest joining our staff. Fr. Michael Malucha, a newly ordained priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, will be with us as a half-time Associate Pastor beginning this weekend. He will be half-time in studies (finishing a licentiate degree in theology at Mundelein Seminary) and the other half with us doing weekend Masses, weddings, funerals, and helping with various other ministries. He is a holy man, a gifted homilist, good confessor, and already a wonderful priest! Please help me in welcoming him to our Family of Four Parishes. I will continue in my role as Associate Pastor and have known Fr. Michael since seminary, so I was very excited to have him be assigned here. Please pray for Fr. Michael…and for Fr. Tim, as he now has two young priests to keep him on his toes!!

Have a blessed week everyone! Know of our prayers, especially for all fathers here on this Father’s Day weekend.

Sincerely, with love,
Fr. John
Video Mass for Sunday, June 20th. Here is the recorded Mass for this upcoming Sunday (12th Sunday in Ordinary Time). We provide a worship aid to help you better enter into the prayer of the Mass. We are so grateful to DV Productions, our Liturgists Mary Robertson and Meggie Moyer, and our cantor Amy Sobczak for their efforts in making our prayer as beautiful as possible.

Recorded YouTube Masses Continue until June 20. For more than a year now, we have been sharing Masses on YouTube to minister to our four parish family during the pandemic. As we move forward with hope for a resolution to this pandemic, we have made the decision to end our YouTube Masses, and this weekend is our last Mass. We instead invite you to come to the in person Masses, which so wonderfully express our relationship to Jesus and to each other. We are so grateful for the ongoing support and engagement that people have shown over the past year. If you are unable to join us in person you can find links to other online Masses on our website at ssppmilw.org/online-masses-and-devotions.

Weekly Email Newsletter Continues through June. We will stop sending out weekly email updates at the end of this month. Please check the parish website and bulletin for the latest news. If you’d like to subscribe to the bulletin and get an email notification when a new bulletin is available, please go to the bulletin publisher’s website at https://parishesonline.com/find/family-of-four-parishes-milwaukee/subscribe

In Person Mass Changes. The City of Milwaukee’s mask mandate expired on June 1. In keeping with CDC guidance, masks will be optional at Masses if you are fully vaccinated. Those who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear a mask. Anyone who is uncomfortable removing their mask is still welcome to wear it. Beginning this weekend we will take down the ropes and resume communion lines. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we safely move forward in hope for an end of the pandemic. You can find the most recent Mass guidelines on the Reopening page of the parish website.
