Colville Road- Artwork Opportunities

Over the summer artist Janetka Platun, who has been commissioned to create artwork for Colville Road’s new housing development, will be running events with local residents.

The first will take place at Colville School with children, staff and parents. The workshops will explore the student’s perception of where the centre of Cherry Hinton is in relation to their body and height. Using cherry wood and chalk the workshop will reference the history and geography of the area. The sessions will take place on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th July, with an opportunity for parents to join in at the end of the day. Information for this event will be sent out by the school.

On September 11th, Janetka and local historian Michelle Bullivant, will be running two interactive walk and talks. Their short tours around the Colville Road area will reveal its hidden histories and the inspiration behind the proposed artwork that will be located in the new homes being built by Cambridge Investment Partnership. Places are free however booking is essential via Eventbrite. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come basis. Details for this event and how to reserve a place can be found on the Resonance-Cambridge website.  http://resonance-cambridge.co.uk/news-events/

Janetka says ‘’Central to the project will be local peoples involvement. Their contribution, marking a moment in time, will be translated into the final piece. So if you see me with a tall cherry wood stick and a piece of chalk please come and say hi and help create a personal relationship to the artwork and leave your mark.”

Colville Road is part of Resonance-Cambridge, the public art programme commissioned by Cambridge Investment Partnership as part of the new homes being built across Cambridge. Further information about the creative programme can be found at: http://resonance-cambridge.co.uk/developments/colville-road

Queen Anne Terrace- Consultation

The Greater Cambridge Partnership and Cambridge City Council are working together to review cycle parking at the Queen Anne Terrace Car Park on Gonville Place, Cambridge. The car park is on the edge of the city centre, adjacent to Parkers Piece and close to many businesses and amenities including the Parkside pool and gym.

This consultation is an opportunity for new and existing users to contribute to proposed capacity and security enhancements for this area.

Please see here for more details.

Robin Hood Junction Update- A message from Highway Services

Dear all,

As of tomorrow we plan to have the permanent traffic signals switched on and working. Following that we will be testing the signals to ensure the timings are as effective as possible.

We do still have some works left to finish off at the junction. This includes some red surfacing, which we have been unable to do today due to a plant breakdown. We are also experiencing delays in getting street lighting equipment  delivered to us and therefore the junction will continue to be lit with temporary lighting until we can complete this.

Some of this work will be completed next week (from the 21st June) during off peak hours (09:30-15:30) Monday to Friday. This should minimise any disruption to the community during the busy peak periods.

Thank you for bearing with us throughout the project and while we finish off the remaining elements of the scheme.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
