June Chamber News

Dear Rivertowns Chamber Members and Community,

The reopening feels like it has been almost as swift as the initial shut down, doesn’t it? While many will see businesses full of people again, we know that it doesn’t mean we are out of the woods. In a lot of cases there is much debt, costs have gone up, and labor is scarce. Reopening has definitely been a shock to the system. If we were looking for change to come out of the past year then maybe our struggles are a sign of adjusting to the new and improved normal that we were hoping for and our struggles will help us find new ways to do business. I really believe that the chamber is an integral anchor of the community as we adapt and grow in the post-pandemic economy.

I want to take a quick minute to highlight the energy coming from the board – everyone is giving their very best effort to shape and grow the chamber. The membership committee has been especially active and many new ideas are being implemented from this group of members. They have a committed enthusiasm for figuring out how to help local businesses and how to rally support for the chamber. The committee wants to be able to share some unique words about why the chamber is important. Please take a quick minute to give us a testimonial in your own words – tell us why you joined the chamber or why you think the chamber is important to the community and recovery. Share this form with your customers and employees, too!

With all of that said, the chamber is hiring like everyone else right now! We’re feeling the support of the community and the county government, and so we’re looking to keep the momentum going with staff members who can help us support local businesses. In the newsletter below, there are job descriptions for a part-time TikTok Intern and a part-time Chamber Administrator. Please share widely, we are looking to hire for these positions as soon as possible (again, we know, like every other business).

Lastly, this Summer we are going to take a small breather from our normal monthly meetings. A fun zoom event might pop up, but our board will be working behind the scenes to plan for the Fall and take their own much needed Summer break. We’ll still keep you up to date with pressing news via email.

Hope to see you at our last zoom meeting before the break on June 30th, featuring Hastings-on-Hudson Mayor Niki Armacost (and cross your fingers for a return to in-person meetings in the Fall!).

Cheers,
Michelle
Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce President
