Friday 11th June 2021

Dear families,

This year we will have an end to our school year that will be different than normal. It may be different... but we will keep the theme of celebration alive throughout the school community. Thank you for your patience, support and understanding.

More information is below...in the events section of this email.

School Life

5 Ways to Reading

The focus this week is reading at home.

Reading can include comics, magazines, reading together with an adult, listening to an adult and many more enjoyable opportunities.

Next week our class bubbles will share a reading activity over Google Classroom with another year group.

Remember your Oxford Reading challenge. We already have some Infant children who have achieved their Gold Award.

Fantastic Ferns

Fantastic ferns, bio-diversity and developing an enthusiasm for plants.

The Year 4 children built a terrarium in a jar this week...

They were fantastic.

Red Squirrels

Year 3 had great fun learning about red squirrels with the Knowsley Safari expert this week.

Well done everyone.

5 Ways to Wellbeing

New learning can include hobbies, languages or learning from experiences.

How can you keep learning at home with your family?

How about going on a "Home School Safari"?

Happy to Help

Staff are always happy to help.

Please support our school community by communicating politely and in a co-operative manner with all school members.

Abusive and aggressive behaviour on the school premises or via the telephone will not be tolerated.

All concerns can be solved in an amicable way which will support our children, their wellbeing and learning.

School Events

Sports Day

Knowsley Council advice to schools is that any sports activities must not include spectators or families.

Sadly, parents will not be invited to Sports Day this year. Classes will have their own special event in their bubble.

Sadly, due to Covid-19 restrictions, things will have to be done differently this year.

Following the distribution of end of year reports any class teacher/parent or carer catch ups will be via telephone or Google Meet this year.

Year 6 end of year celebrations will be planned as in school events for the pupils.  We will be using the current in class bubbles, due to the restrictions of 30 people remaining until at least 19.07.2021 at the earliest.

Thank you for your patience.

Collective Worship

Thank you, Year 5, Class 12 for leading our Collective Worship this week.

Your theme was Roles and Responsibilities.

Your class worked together during the Collective Worship and we all certainly think about how we can try to follow the Ten Commandments.

Thank you again and well done.

Pope Francis Tweets
Pope Francis sends us inspiration via his tweets.

Our favourite one this week is....

"Where there is no honour for the #eldery, there is no future for the young.

Remember to respect and care for our elderly. There is a lot that we can learn from them about resilience and strong spirit.

."
Celebrate the Week - Class Awards

This weeks class teacher awards go to...

Well Done To Everyone !

Keep Up The Good Work!

Attendance

If your child needs to be off school for reasons other than illness you must make a request using the following form. School will decide if the request will be authorised and send you a letter.

Any pupil having an absence without making a request will be classed as unauthorised – so it’s really important that you inform us!

The best attenders this week are...

Class 10 - Miss Hester 99.7%

Class 8 - Mrs Ferguson 97.9%

All of these classes were above our school target of 97%

This is Brilliant - Keep Up The Good Work!

Come on every other class... let's get your class on the leader board by being above 97% next week!

Attendance - Reporting Absences
Reporting ALL absences is even more important at the moment. This helps us to keep the building Covid-19 secure.

Parents please make sure you follow our procedures, so we don't have to isolate any bubbles.

Please telephone school on 0151 477 8400  on the first day of absence. You can also send an email to Admin@smaaa.info

Tell our admin staff the reason for the absence, and when you expect your child to return to school.

All unexplained absences will be looked at by our Attendance Lead, & possibly the School Attendance Service, so it's really important that you report all absences by 10am on the first day of absence!

Remember if your child is off school due to illness,  hospital  or dental appointments,  you must  also send an email with a copy of the medical letter / proof to Admin@smaaa.info

We cannot authorise any absence without proof!

Bringing Items Into School.

Can we please remind parents and children that items from home (Such as Teddy Bears, Toys, Stationery, Fidget Spinners etc.) should not be brought into school.

We must keep the building COVID-19 secure, to keep all our families safe!
Remember:

If anyone in a household is sick or showing signs of illness;
nobody from the household should come near school.

If someone is waiting for a Covid-19 test result
the whole household should not come near school!

If anyone in household has a cough, temperature, or loss of smell,
then a PCR test is needed, at a test centre, lateral flow tests cannot be used!

We do not want anyone put at risk!

Please note that the situation around Corona virus is rapidly changing and the information is correct at the time of sending this communication.

We will be updating further, as we have further information available.
