Annual Meeting Highlights Challenges and Successes

I would like to thank the many brothers who attended the Delta Chi Association’s Annual Meeting on Sunday June 27th.  It was wonderful to have had the opportunity to give the attendees an update on how our chapter met the challenges of the past year and is positioned to build on our success in the year to come.   To see the details from that presentation, please click the button at the end of this email.

One of the most exciting parts of the Annual Meeting each year is the elections of Delta Chi Association Officers and Board Members.  First, I would like to thank the general membership for unanimously re-electing me as President of the Delta Chi Association.  This past year, my first as Board President, has been a tremendous learning experience and I look forward to accomplishing even more in my second full year on the job.  I would also like to thank you for unanimously electing Carl Oronsky ’92 as Board Treasurer.  I would like to thank Mike Clifford ‘91 for his service as Treasurer this past year and look forward to working with Carl to ensure our chapter’s continued financial success.

In addition, I would like to recognize the DXA Board Members elected for a three-year term through 2024.  Bob Platt ’73 and Chris Scannell ’05 have been re-elected and will continue their excellent work in overseeing the improvements to our 13 South Avenue facility.  Vin Bertomeu ’95, Thibaut Delage ’07, and Matt Karp ’20 also joined the Board, replacing outgoing Board Members John Yerger ’82, Brendan O’Gorman ’05, and David Harwitt ’12.

Finally, I would like to thank Chris Scannell ’05 for once again agreeing to serve as Vice President, Pete Bachrach ’01 for his willingness to continue as Secretary and assume the responsibilities of Director of Communications, and Mike Curran ’79 for offering his leadership in the new position of Fundraising Chair.  I am grateful for all of the support that you give Deke day in and day out and look forward to another successful year.

This next year is important for our chapter:

  • We need to follow up last year’s successful Spring Rush with another large rush this coming Fall and Spring.  Two years of large rush totals should allow us to make a strong case for regaining our Charter from DKE International.
  • We need to complete several large house improvement projects in a timely and financially responsible manner as there are many more to come.
  • We need to finish out the final year of our Building our Legacy Capital Campaign strong, and identify continued sources of revenue for critical house projects in the years to come.
  • We need to take every opportunity to return to in-person brother bonding, whether in Ithaca at Homecoming or Reunion, or in other venues throughout the country.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on alumni events and happenings on campus through this email list, and our website, Facebook, and Instagram sites.  Thank you so much for your commitment to keeping Deke strong.
