Insights, Opinion and Original Thinking from UCD College of Business
Excellence in research that delivers meaningful impact is central to the ethos of our faculty. Each month our academics publish in leading journals and are featured in national and international media. Our faculty are experts in their subject areas.

Professor Niamh Brennan participated in the first of EAA’s Academic Empathy Dialogues on 24 June 2021. The aim is to create an opportunity to build bridges between “factions” that sometimes confront each other without making the right effort to understand the other side. The first event hosted Niamh and Prof Bill McDonald (Notre Dame), mediated by Prof Steve Young (Lancaster), discussing “Narrative reporting and disclosure”.

Ennis, Paul J, Donncha Kavanagh and Luis Araujo. (2021) presented their research paper: 'Blockocracies and Token Economies: The Ethereum Imaginary' in Proceedings of The European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) 2021 in Marrakech. The conference is one of the most prestigious gatherings of information systems academics and research-oriented practitioners in the world.
RIP Professor Eamonn Walsh
Professor Eamonn Walsh: 1960 - 2021
It is with deep sadness that the UCD College of Business and our wider UCD community mourns the passing of Professor Eamonn Walsh, PwC Professor of Accountancy.
For over 30 years, Eamonn’s academic leadership and standing in the field of accountancy has spanned the globe, from Asia to North America and back to Europe. His brilliance from the lectern, and his dedication to his role as an educator, inspired a generation of students ranging from those just beginning their business studies to experienced professionals studying for their MBA. He was equally at home engaging with Irish and global business leaders on challenges of organisational and societal importance.
