A little more than a month ago, I asked for your help to identify a suitable location for our (50 + 1)-year reunion scheduled for October 9. Thanks to many of the people who responded, we were able to narrow down and select a venue, sign a contract, put down a deposit with the caterer, settle on a ticket price, and then print, staple, fold, tape, address, and stamp the invitations (the old fashioned way). I put the first batch of 200 in the mail on Saturday evening, and the final batch of 500+ hit the post office this morning. Check your mail in the next couple of days - if you don't get one, I must not have your current mailing address - reply to this email with the correct information.
To read all about it before you get the snail-mail invitation, simply go to the Class of 1970 (50 + 1)-Year Reunion page and read all about it. Here are some of the highlights:
- We ended up at the Riverside Elks Lodge (photo above) after all - but in the Lounge instead of the Banquet Hall. It can hold up to 120 people.
- The all-inclusive prices for the reunion weekend is $55 single, $105 couples (that's $20/person less than previous years), with the price increasing after September 1.
- The Saturday reunion will run from 4:00 - 9:00 PM... we're not hiring a band, but we're exploring interest in forming a one-night-stand band of Ramona musical alumni.
- You can register via paper/snail-mail and pay by check/money order, or register online at the link above and pay by online funds transfer (Zelle) or by credit card.
- We have additional activities planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 8-10:
- We've been invited by the Class of 1971 to join their Friday 50-year picnic at California Citrus State Historic Park on Van Buren and Dufferin... you only pay for parking after 1:00 PM.
- The Homecoming game is Friday evening at 6:45, tickets are (I believe) $7 at the gate.
- There will be a 9:00 AM walk up Mt. Rubidouxon Saturday, followed by lunch at D'Elia's at 11:00.
- We'll meet at Fairmount Park for a picnic on Sunday anytime between 10-4, with emphasis between 11-2.
- We'll also make impromptu plans for evening gatherings at local watering holes and food establishments for additional opportunities to get together.
So mark your calendar, make your travel plans, and send in your reservations to get the early-bird price! I'll be posting and updating an RSVP list in a couple of weeks on the reunion website, at which time you'll be able to bug your friends who haven't responded yet to join us. And for those of you who have prior obligations that weekend or are otherwise unable to attend, you can still send in a photo and fill out information for the bio book so that everyone can still see your picture and catch up a bit.
