With the predicted end to lockdown on 19 July we are hoping for a full return to Hornbeam from Wednesday 21 July onwards. The ongoing lack of numbers at Hornbeam has been a problem recently, particularly for newcomers, so if you have been riding alone or in a small ad-hoc group, PLEASE come back and join us again so we can breathe some life back into the club.
We might need to manage groups & starts from adjacent car park bays initially, and we expect we will still have to register for Test and Trace for a while, so please register using the simple form on our website, make your way to Hornbeam, support the club and your fellow riders and have fun.
Ride Leaders
We hope to have ride leaders back operating again, but please do look at the routes in advance on the Ride Calendar in case there are not enough leaders to go around.
Group Sizes
Whatever the limit on group sizes under Covid restrictions, we are conscious of the fact that there are now more cyclists on the road and, it seems, an increased number of non-cyclist-friendly motorists. In the interests of everyone’s safety and common sense please stick to the following when on a club ride:-
Please keep groups to single figures. If there are 10 or more cyclists please split into two smaller groups
Please keep a decent gap of 50-100m minimum between groups
If you ride 2 abreast, keep in tight and only do so on wide enough roads.
Harrogate Station Gateway
Thank you to all of you who took part in the public consultation. The results can be found on the Your Voice webpage - Harrogate Station Gateway. The report is quite long but some of it can be skipped through and the main points do make interesting reading.
There will be further opportunity later this year to comment on the more detailed plans.
If you are not a member of the Facebook Group but would like to join then please contact info@wheel-easy.org.uk. The Group pages are useful for more immediate information and comments.
Summer Celebration Party
Just in case you missed the last email, the Summer Celebration Party will be on Sunday 25th July at 3.00pm at the Rugby Club (unless Covid plans change).
Please complete the form below by 10am next Tuesday 13th July with the names of your party in order to get on the list for the BBQ food as we need to confirm with the caterers. Non-member partners and guests are welcome; the club will pay for food for members, and non-members can eat for £8 per head, so please bring cash on the day. There will be a cash bar that will accept cash or card.
