LCI Seminar

BikeAthens is excited to announce that we are hosting an LCI seminar this September 3-5th. Registration closes August 14th.

League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) are ambassadors for better biking through education. After earning certification through a 3-day, League Coach-led seminar, LCIs teach Smart Cycling classes to children as well as adults. Their goal is to help people feel more secure about getting on a bike, to create a mindset that bikes are treated as a vehicle, and to ensure that people on bikes know how to ride safely and legally.

Check out the details for the requirements so you can get them out of the way in advance.

We know many take the summer months to get out of Athens and vacation, but we wanted to remind those of you that are around about FYOB night and Joy Rides.

  • If you have concerns about finishing the route please don’t hesitate to reach out, we are happy to accompany individuals back to the start location mid ride

BikeAthens Resource Page

BikeAthens recognizes that there are many groups of people who ride bikes that are excluded from the “bike scene.” Sometimes this is on purpose and sometimes it is by accident, but regardless it is unacceptable.

We also know that there is quite the lack of resources for individuals who are not cis-gender males or professional female cyclists.

So in an effort to help individuals feel included in the cycling/bicycling community and have the resources they need, we are launching a resource section on our website that will be steadily expanded.

These pages follow the community mentality of “for us by us.” This means that BikeAthens is not writing our own content, unless absolutely necessary. Instead we are collecting information written by individuals in these groups on cycling/biking issues.

We hope that giving individuals information written by people like them can highlight these writers while providing a kindred voice. To help bring attention to these pages we plan to highlight some of the content each month in the newsletter.

If you have ideas for content that should be in the resource section please reach out to us; we want to make sure the pages include as many groups as possible.
