Stay cool this summer in Sandpoint!

Jump right in!

It's lake time in northern Idaho

The heat is definitely on this summer in Sandpoint, which is why our lakes and high mountains are the coolest places to be! Get familiar with Lake Pend Oreille via our Summer Guide where you'll find boat rentals, lake cruises, fishing charters, and more.
And for holiday fun, Sandpoint's hometown vibe is on full display during our Fourth of July celebration happening this Sunday, July 4. Folks line the downtown streets for an entertaining and patriotic parade at 10 a.m., and in the evening catch the beautiful fireworks display over Lake Pend Oreille at dusk. Presented by the Sandpoint Lions.

Cooler trails prevail

While there's no shortage of fabulous hikes, a "cool" hike might be one in the deep forest with water nearby. Here are a couple within easy reach of Sandpoint:
  • The Ross Creek Cedars, about 80 minutes east of Sandpoint, offers a .9 mile walk through awe-inspiring ancient cedars; combine it with a swim in nearby Bull Lake at the Dorr Skeels Campgound swimming beach. More info at Kootenai National Forest.
  • Or head 70 minutes northwest of town to the Lakeshore Trail along Priest Lake. Get on the trail at Reeder Bay Campground near Nordman, for easy shoreline hiking through stands of timber with numerous small beaches along the 14.4 miles it stretches north. Details at Idaho Panhandle National Forest.

Festival at Sandpoint's lakeside concerts are back!

Tickets are selling briskly, so pick a few of your favorites and make it a date!

NW Wine Fest returns to Schweitzer

There were lots of great summer events that we all truly missed last year, and Schweitzer's Northwest Wine Fest was at the top of every wine aficionado's list! Alas, we're happy to see that it's coming back bigger and better than ever July 17-18. There are five bands lined up to perform live music, plus 20 regional wineries pouring 80 wines, plus a barbecue, arts and crafts vendors, and mountain activities for the entire family. Summer is looking awesome!
