The Sensity community came together for a colourful and tactile celebration of National Deafblind Awareness Month #NDBAM by “yarn bombing” on Wednesday, June 16.

The sensory garden at the Resource Centre in Paris was covered with dozens upon dozens of knitted, crocheted and loomed squares, blankets and afghans. And there were plenty of smiles to go around as the volunteers, including individuals who are deafblind, intervenors and other staff worked together on the fun project.

Cookies for a Cause

Leading up to our Yarn Bombing installation day that took place June 16th, Café coordinator Ashley Tavares and Alecia decorated seven dozen “I love you” ASL shaped cookies, all dipped in Sensity branded colours. These cookies also included the hashtag #NDBAM for Deafblind Awareness month.

Make a Wave Concert Thank You Song
Catch a wave and you're sitting on top of the world
No one afraid to try with Kyla leading (Catch a wave, catch a wave)
Markeeta, Tiana and Hailey too
Those who love music have to put it down
You sing out turn around and play
And baby that's all there is to the music therapy craze
We caught the music wave and we’re sittin' on top of the world

Not just a fad cause it's been going on so long (Catch a wave, catch a wave)
All the music making going strong
They said it wouldn't last too long
They'll eat their words with two drum sticks!
And watch 'em they'll hit the road and all be making music soon
And when they catch a wave they'll be sittin' on top of the world
We caught the music wave and we’re sittin' on top of the world

So take a session from a top-notch music therapist (Catch a wave, catch a wave)
Every day, any day!
And now slowly we rejoice
Start to get away from the computer screen
And baby go catch some rays with music in the Sensory Garden!
And when you catch a wave you'll be sittin' on top of the world
We caught the music wave and we’re sittin' on top of the world

THANK YOU to Kyla, Markeeta, Tiana and Hailey for all of their efforts for two incredible performances Friday, June 25th. Thanks for catching the wave with all of us throughout the month of June!
