 Saturday July 3rd

Help make the America car great

This job has the highest priority so anyone that can help in any way is urged to come down and lend a hand.  Saturday volunteers should check in and see where they can help.

          1. There are interior areas where the paint has not adhered well. It needs to be scuffed, primed and repainted.

          2. Kitchen cabinets need to be assembled so they can be installed. Base cabinets and Corner cabinets must be assembled in the kitchen but some pre-assembly can be done.
          3. The lounge bar backsplash needs to be installed. The remnants of glue from the previous backsplash must be removed first.
          4.  Crew room walls need to be washed and painted
          5. Marker lights were removed from the Amtrak boxcar and need to be be installed on America.
          6. Cut new rubber grommets for a shock absorber mount.
          7.  We need a crew of volunteers and a crew chief to help with the windows. A work station has been set up for this project;
                a. dis-assemble frames  (the fasteners can be stubborn) Drill out broken screws if necessary.
                b. clean and polish aluminum frames
                c. clean windows and determine if new Tuffak Makrolon  needs to be cut
                d. measure, cut and drill new bakelite strips for spacers
                e. install new gasket
                f. re-assemble           .
Volunteers are reminded to use all safety precautions working around the America car and keep things as clean as possible.

4070
To keep moving on 4070, we have a job that is literally the pits. The stall 4 wheel pit needs to be shoveled of dirt and debris to clear for drainage and assure enough space to drop the main drive axle on 4070.

These are our primary jobs for this holiday weekend.  There are always other chores. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July.

Anyone that wishes to volunteer but is not available on Saturdays can offer their services on weekdays. Send an email to the office at midwestrailway@gmail.com and state when you are available and the roundhouse supervisor will get back to you.
