Greetings from the La Plata County Planning Department! Below you will find a news update on the projects, plans and processes afoot in our department, at the Planning Commission, and at the Board of County Commissioners. Thank you for your interest in La Plata County!

The Planning Commission needs you!
The Planning Commission is looking for alternate members to join them. The Planning Commission assists with establishing long-range planning policies as well as reviews and advises the Board of County Commissioners on land use requests and subdivision proposals.

July 8
- Silver Spruce Academy sketch plan
The Planning Commission will consider a sketch plan proposal to develop an academy including classrooms, offices, storage and restrooms located within a single building on an undeveloped parcel at 743 County Road 510 in Durango.
- Vista De Vaqueros Novatos subdivision sketch plan
The Planning Commission will consider a sketch plan proposal for a thirteen-lot subdivision consisting of twelve 3-acre lots and one 25-acre lot utilizing two parcels at 1145 County Road 300 in Durango.
July 22
- Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Event Venue special use permit
The Planning Commission will consider a proposal to formalize the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad themed events that occur on private property. This permit would replace the temporary use permits the train applies for each year at 26650 Hwy 550 N.

Community Development Services and the County's IT department built a locator map that shows all the proposed projects in La Plata County!
