In this issue:

Welcome to our weekly eAlert for HCQ's network members

Thank you for being part of Health Consumers Queensland's network and sharing our vision for a health system which:

  • delivers quality and safe health services
  • values the voice of consumers and carers in how health services are designed and delivered.

Want to get involved?

We help to make this possible by working with Queensland Health and other health organisations to offer consumers and carers a broad range of opportunities to engage right across the system.

New opportunities are added to this eAlert each week and are also available on our website.  We encourage you to apply for these roles to positively influence and improve the health care experience for everyone in Queensland.

You can also register on here to attend our events and courses. You'll develop your knowledge and skills whilst meeting other consumers and staff members who are passionate about genuine and meaningful consumer engagement.

Need guidance on the reimbursement and remuneration of consumers?

Not sure you've got the right experience? See our top tips for applying for roles.

What does a well-run, safe and person-centred vaccine rollout program look like to you?

Thank you for joining last week's Consumer Conversation to share your views and suggestions for what is working well with Queensland's vaccine rollout program and what could be better.

Here is our latest issues paper based on your feedback which has been shared with Queensland Health. Please note, the conversation was held before the recent updates to the advice on the Astra Zeneca vaccine from the Commonwealth and the current lockdown in some parts of Queensland.

Join the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Network

In last week’s eAlert, HCQ referred to this opportunity as the First Nations Clinical Network.  However, following strong feedback during consultation on this Clinical Network, the clinical network name was changed to the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Network. We apologise for this mistake and the confusion this caused. We also gave some links to earlier versions of the FAQs and Terms and Reference.  These have been updated this week. The application form was correct and remains the same. Our deep apologies for this mistake.

Closing date: 5pm, Friday 16 July 2021

Bring your voice and ideas to the attention of health system leaders.

Clinical Excellence Queensland’s Healthcare Improvement Unit (HIU) invites expressions of interest for the role of General Membership for the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Network.

The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Network (previously referred to as the First Nations Clinical Network) has been established to be a driving force for strong and sustained engagement across the Queensland health sectors. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's knowledge and practice will enable clinicians, consumers and managers to make a positive difference to health outcomes and improve life expectancy for our people.

The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Network will enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to develop their own strategies, to better reflect their interests, values, vision and concerns, and to increase their ownership and accountability of their health experiences and outcomes.

Find out more about this opportunity including links to the Terms of Reference and Frequently Asked Questions by clicking on the 'Read more' link below. You can also click on 'Apply here' to be taken directly to the application form.
