Humberstone Road Tree Pits bursting with greenery!
A Humberstone neighbour says: ‘Last Sunday a group of green-fingered neighbours on Humberstone Road got together to spruce up the neglected tree pits. The ferns, lavender and other flowers were selected by our local landscaper Jack for their low maintenance needs, and will hopefully keep the street looking lovely for years to come.  It was a great chance to get to know our neighbours (a few of us meeting face to face for the first time) as well as a wonderful opportunity to chat to the other residents as we were planting.’

If you are interested in transforming the tree pits on your street, please get in touch with Green Spaces and Streets Community worker Milena at PSBL - milena@plaistowsouthbiglocal.org.uk.  We are proud to be have funded this project.

Welcome to our two new volunteers:  Malaka and Halima
Malaka and Halima enjoyed a Walkabout on our patch this month.
Malaka saysI had the pleasure of taking a walk around Plaistow South with the company of  lovely Denny and Sheba. I was given the opportunity to see all the hard work and the effort the volunteers have put into making a contribution to the community.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Denny and Sheba for taking me on this walk, it was a real eye opener as I was not aware that these projects were run by the people of the borough with so much love.
Halima says: As a long-standing member of our community, I think it’s our duty to help bring in positive changes to the community in order to establish a healthy atmosphere filled with unity, harmony and friendship.  The Walkabout was an eye opening experience and I was able to see firsthand how they interact and work with the community to bring about positive changes that will benefit the locals. Going forward, I’m looking forward to getting actively involved in future projects.
