Dear <<Greeting name>>,
We are thankful for your holding us before the throne of grace! We also are praying for many of you experiencing the heat wave and many deep into summer projects; may the Lord minister to and through you. Here are our current praises and prayer requests:
After a day of learning to cut and smoke salmon, a lady who attended February’s training module shared that last year she only helped with wrapping the fish because anything else interrupted her drinking. After giving her life to the Lord, she has come to appreciate God’s provision of salmon and the life He has given her to enjoy. “All glory to Jesus!”
Please pray for the village of Grayling. The last month has brought several deaths of members of the community and additional memorials for those who died earlier in the year. One of the men who died was our neighbor next to the mission house. Due to quarantine requirements, we were not able to make it to Grayling for the funeral, but James and Timothy drove down to Anchorage to attend the viewing before he was brought home to Grayling. At the viewing, one of the family members asked James to lead in a few songs and prayer. It was a good opportunity to serve the family.
Last Friday, we had another impromtu "on the road system" chance to serve a friend from Grayling who was stranded in Nenana. James and Shannon enjoyed a good visit with him while driving him to Anchorage.
Pray for the villages along the Yukon River. The Department of Fish and Game has still not opened fishing for the villages. All the smoke houses are empty, and there will be no King salmon this year.
Pray for one of the dear, vital members of the Fairbanks Native Bible Church who is home on hospice with a terminal lung disease. Pray for her husband, and her daughter who has severe mental disabilities. It will be a struggle to lose her mother.
We praise the Lord for the summer season which is filled with subsistence activities, outdoor projects, and the Bible Bee. James suffered a sore back for a while, but we were able to complete one of the house projects in the middle of it. On to the next project!
Please pray for Rachel’s back. She has not been on full duty for several months. Pray for strength and healing and the ability to work this summer. Pray for Christa who is attending two weeks at Patrick Henry College for speech and drama camps.
