There were several tournaments that took place last month both locally and out of state. While our pros were busy competing in the big tournaments, many local players were competing in local and regional tournaments.

There was the PPA Orange County Cup where our local boys Jocelyn Devilliers and Patrick Smith (also known as #TeamModel, #WichitaBoys) took bronze in pro men's doubles, and Lucy Kovalova earned silver in both pro mixed doubles with Matt Wright and pro women's doubles with her bestie Simone Jardim. Additionally, #theFlyingFrenchman who I also like to refer to as #FrenchRambo Jocelyn got silver in pro men's singles.

There were three back to back APP tour events in June and Jocelyn brought home gold medals from all of them further solidifying his foothold atop the APP standings. Jocelyn earned the gold in pro men's doubles with three different partners which is a testament to just how truly amazing he is. In APP Indianapolis he won gold with his usual partner Patrick Smith, the #wintersoldier. In the APP Los Angeles Open he won gold with Morgan Evans. And in the APP So Cal Summer Classic he won gold with DJ Young. Jocelyn also took down the singles titles at Indianapolis and LA. He lost an intense medal match in So Cal to JW Johnson (14-12, 10-12, 11-8), giving him the bronze in pro men's singles at that tournament.

Mixed doubles medals proved more elusive for the well-decorated Frenchman. Jocelyn missed the podium in Indianapolis and LA but made it to the top in So Cal with Michelle Esquivel. However, Wichita didn't completely miss out on mixed doubles glory in Indianapolis. The handsome German Patrick Smith and his amazing mixed doubles partner and honorary Wichitan Lauren Stratman earned the bronze.

In local news, Nahola and Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center hosted another great tournament. The ICT Classic pickleball tournament at RTC was a two day affair featuring men's and women's doubles on Saturday, June 12, and mixed doubles on Sunday, June 13. Many of our friends earned medals. You can see the full results here with pictures.

If you missed the ICT Classic, not to worry. The tournament happens again in the fall and registration is open from now through September 18.

Congratulations to all of our friends who earned #goldentickets to Nationals at the USA Pickleball Great Plains Regional Championships last weekend.

There were lots of medals brought back to Wichita overall but gold medals at Regional tournaments are quite special in that they grant the player a guaranteed spot in the same event at Nationals. You can learn more about qualifying for the USA Pickleball National Championships here.

If you're ready to get your feet wet and play in your very first pickleball tournament, check out Pick Your Battle ICT. The event will be held at Farha Sports Centers South on July 10. Registration includes a free commemorative shirt.

The very next weekend the Wichita Metro Crime Commission is hosting a benefit tournament at Chicken N Pickle. The event is open to spectators. Learn more about the tournament and register a team here.
