Good afternoon <<First Name>>,

For the first time (above), the Pride flag was flown at the US State Department - and the Progress Flag too! And FINALLY - Biden has nominated a queer woman to be a US Ambassador!

After the last 2 elections, are you looking to be more involved in politics? Run for office - or help run a campaign? Join Victory Fund's campaign training in Boston (deadline Friday).

Hope you had an incredible holiday,

Ashton
#46 President Biden may be the most pro-LGBTQ President in history - but that doesn't mean the haters aren't responding. USA Today authors a comprehensive article about the backlash (mainly in the form of anti-trans legislation). And also - I'm thrilled this "mainstream" publication also authored a piece on global LGBTQ rights! Also, I missed this from Biden last week - he acknowledged the newly out NFL player as well as a trans athlete on a trans soccer player.
I joined the Victory Fund Campaign Board! It's the group of people who decide endorsements, generate awareness and link Victory to queer candidates or potential candidates to run for office - and of course do fundraising. After being involved with the Victory Fund for over a decade, I decided it was time. Please be in touch if you want to get involved or learn more. Again, my first involvement was doing the campaign training, which is great even if you just want to be a candidate or work on a campaign (or just want to expand your understanding of politics).
Global Pride Roundup: The Tbilisi Pride march happened despite attacks injuring journalists (one activist says they are happy to be alive), and a cancellation. And in Croatia, assailants attacked Zagreb Pride marchers. Chinese authorities banned campus LGBTQ social media groups overnight on Tuesday. Back in NYC, We couldn't have a Queer Liberation March without some conflict with the police! Arrests were made in Washington Square Park where participants gathered after the march.

In Brazil, a potential Presidential contender, Eduardo Leite came out - but did not apologize for backing homophobic right-wing President Bolsonaro in 2018!

When even cisgender women are banned from sporting events: the Olympics banned 2 black Namibians with naturally occurring high testosterone.

In the UAE, Embassies flew rainbow flags - but were allowed to do so without complaints from local authorities. However, that did not stop locals from voicing hatred.

Canadian Senators blocked passage of a bill that would end "conversion" therapy (at least for the summer).

The US State Department will soon issue passports with a 3rd gender option (x) - aligning itself with some State Governments - and will no longer require a medical certificate to change a person's gender marker.

California has now banned state-funded travel to a total of 17 states, adding 4 more last week! In LA, violent protests erupted when complaints about a trans woman's naked body in the women's room went viral.

  Travel again!

List Lovers: USA Today lists 20 top LGBTQ summer destinations - Sweden is number 1!.

Politico examines Hungary's deep turn against LGBTQ people, after initial progress.

Considering Puerto Rico?Take a look at this history of the activism that continues to highlight the inequities for Latinas/os.

Spain: Are you looking for a queer outdoor escape - but in Europe? Also a great option, if bars & clubs remain closed: late August in the mountains ~4 hours from Barcelona or Madrid (it's in between).

Ptown: Victory Fund holds a pre-tea toast at the start to Labor Day weekend!

San Diego: Victory Fund holds its first in-person Brunch on Sunday, October 17 - more details soon, but if you're going please select me as your Table Captain!
