Clean and Green Update

Cock-A-Tube Installation
Three local primary schools participating in the City’s Adopt-A-Patch program are installing artificial cockatoo nests thanks to funding from the Federal Government’s Communities Environment Program to boost local habitat for birds.

Nearly 400 High Wycombe Primary School students sat in on a presentation by Simon Cherriman from the Re-Cyc-Ology Project on local birdlife and habitat prior to the installation of the artificial nest, also known as a Cock-A-Tube.

In addition to the High Wycombe Primary School installation, Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School and Edney Primary School also fitted Cock-A-Tubes to local trees last month.

National Tree Planting Day

The City’s Environment Team braved the recent rain and cold weather for the 25th Planet Ark National Tree Planting Day at Jorgensen Park.

The team was joined by 17 local Friends Group members and other community volunteers who together planted more than 1500 native plants in 90 minutes!

Make a difference to the Perth Hills – Apply to Join the Perth Hills Future Board

Perth Hills Future (PHF) was launched in February 2021 to identify and advocate for priorities shared by large sections of the community across the Perth Hills. The goal is to enhance the local environment, village lifestyle and economy of the Perth Hills. The focus at present is on the Perth Hills sections of the local government areas of Swan, Mundaring, Kalamunda, Armadale and Serpentine-Jarrahdale.
PHF is currently seeking locals with the vision, drive and skills (ie governance, legal, finance, media, marketing, events management) to facilitate ongoing engagement with the Perth Hills community and key stakeholders.
Applications for Board Member positions are sought from motivated and experienced people who are knowledgeable about the strengths and challenges of the Perth Hills. The application deadline has been extended to 31 August 2021. For more information and to apply head to the PHF website.
PHF is also inviting applications from organisations and individuals wishing to become members. This is the best way to stay informed about issues you care about and there is no cost to join.
