MCTX Independence Day Festival is Tomorrow, July 3

The “Show Me City” skies will light up tomorrow for the MCTX Independence Day Festival. This year it will be held at the Houston Community College Missouri City campus located at 1600 Texas Pkwy.

Free Parking will be available at Thurgood Marshall High School located at 1220 Buffalo Run and the METRO shuttles will provide free rides to the event site every 15 minutes. Thomas Taylor Parkway and Fresh Meadow Drive will close at 1 p.m. on July 3 and will re-open after the event. Quail Green West Park will be closed until Monday, July 5.

Headlining the evening of musical entertainment is C&C Music Factory and TAG TEAM. With hits like “Gonna Make You Sweat” (Everybody Dance Now) and "Whoomp! There It Is”, attendees will be warmed up for the grand finale with the H-E-B Fireworks Show. Regional favorite Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws will join the show along with Texas Flood for a tribute to the legends of the blues.

In addition, to the live entertainment and fireworks, there will be various food trucks; a Kids Action Zone with free activities including inflatables, interactive art display, and water fun; and a brand new Sensory Friendly Break Area with activities for those who have sensory-sensitive needs. This rain or shine event will close out with the H-E-B Fireworks Show beginning around 9:15 p.m. For more details, visit www.mctxparks.com.

Officials Continue to Watch the Tropics | Protect Yourself from Heat & Mosquitoes

As the 2021 Hurricane Season continues, officials are closely monitoring the developments in the Gulf. According to the National Weather Service predictions, Hurricane Elsa is currently not a threat to this region. 

In addition, as we head into the holiday weekend, citizens are encouraged to be weather aware, to stay hydrated and to check on the elderly, kids and pets. Mosquitoes are also on the rise, including West Nile cases in some areas; stay protected and don’t forget to use repellents while outside.

Residents and businesses are also encouraged to stay up-to-date on all emergency information by following the City’s official outlets:

COVID-19 Update: Delta Variant & Vaccinations
