Research Funding News 4

September 2021

Anyone seen my access card?

It has been a long period of working primarily from home, and as we have grown to become digital meeting experts, we have also realized that virtually every fancy top/blouse/shirt works well with sweatpants. However, it's (hopefully!) soon time to pick out a full outfit, since according to the current plan, we are to gradually start re-entering our workplaces come mid September (that is, if we can find our access cards and get through the door!).

We are so excited to eventually meet up and talk about research funding in person! However, for our well-visited activities (workshops etc.) we will keep it digital for a while longer. For example, we have an exceedingly substantial ERC event program, see below.

Have a lovely start of the autumn semester/

We recommend

Pilot online workshop: How to write a successful grant application (for the Swedish Research Council)

You will probably need to write an application to the Swedish Research Council at some point in your academic career, but how do you capture the gist of an ambitious application in a few pages? How do you find a strong focus for your research program? How do you define goals, argue for impact, and develop a clear and compelling narrative that answers the key questions all funders are asking: What will you do? How will you do it? Why is it important? Why you and why now?

The workshop is free of charge for both individuals and departments at Lund University. Please register in Kompetensportalen (login with LUCAT-ID) no later than 15 October:

Doctoral students: 25-26 November (two half-days)
Early career researchers/postdocs: 2-3 December (two half-days)

A logical start of an academic career: Getting that external funding

will run as usual this autumn semester!  This seminar will guide you through the research funding landscape in general, and more specifically in the funding opportunities that Research Services give support in. Read more and register your interest at Kompetensportalen
