Hi! If you’re reading this, you’re probably at least aware of Mainland and the work that we do. If you’ve never heard of us, I’m not quite sure how you ended up on this list, but please feel free to stick around (you may find something of value).
To our friends out there – we hope you’ll enjoy reading about what we’ve been through, what we’re up to, and where we’re heading. We are changing and growing, and we’re thrilled about it. However, it hasn’t been easy.

Like everyone else, making sacrifices for the sake of survival (during the pandemic) pushed us in a new direction. We were forced to look inwardly and embrace opportunities to improve our team, services, and processes.

Even though we were working tirelessly to help our clients get better, we never took the time to properly do the same for ourselves. Trying to offset our losses each month with sheer determination and willpower, we were caught in a chaotic ebb and flow; we were neglecting things like how we take on new clients, communicate deadlines, and deliver results – you know, the core elements of our entire business 🙃 – so our problems compounded, and we took more L’s than ever before.

Finally, I realized the only solution was to step back and rethink our entire business model. This might seem obvious, but if you’ve ever managed a company, you know that hitting the brakes in order to devote full attention to your organization and its inner workings is easier said than done. Especially when some of the problems that need solving are not readily apparent.
So that’s what we’re doing: digging deep to identify problems so we can get better, treating ourselves like clients in order to save our business. And it’s this process that inspired us to start a monthly newsletter. This is our best attempt at transparency about what it’s like to be an agency in 2021, and how lucky we are to continue working with amazing clients.
If you would like to follow along, we will be sending out our first issue next week. If not, there should be an “unsubscribe” link below – we get that the struggle is real when it comes to keeping up with emails, so no hard feelings.
Have a wonderful Holiday weekend and talk again next week!
