Happy 4th of July from all of us here at the Carrollton League of Writers! We wish you a fun and safe holiday!
|
|
We currently meet twice a week.
Every Thursday at 7:00 pm
1529 E Hebron, Carrollton, TX 75010
Thursdays are our hybrid meetings, meaning we gather in person at the above address, but you can also join and participate through Zoom. Email us for the link! Thursdays are when announcements will be made, and they're also when the exciting stuff like Steve's Reading Corner and guest speakers happen. In addition to all that, we critique, encourage, and inspire each other!
Every Tuesday at 7:00 pm
Zoom Hangouts and Writing Sprints
Tuesdays are entirely online and totally informal. Come socialize, brainstorm, and get some words down on the page with timed sprints. Email us for the link!

Things To Look Forward To In July

Steve's Reading Corner
|

On July 1, at our first meeting of the month, we got the privilege of listening to a live reading of "An Unsettling Morning," written and read by Sandy Paty.
It's a beautiful morning, a lovely time for a walk, but what's lurking in the periphery, just out of sight?
"An Unsettling Morning" is set to be published in next year's Carrollton League of Writers Anthology.

Our very own Ross Irvin published an article titled "Champagne Henry, King of Jerusalem" in The California Numismatist Magazine. Ross is an avid collector of Pope medals, and he enjoys writing about the stories behind them. Fun fact: he even photographed medals from his own collection for the article!
Imagine you have the opportunity to become a king with a prestigious title, but the capital of your kingdom has been captured by Muslims and is still under their control, the woman through whom you inherit the title is the very pregnant wife of the previous king designate, who was just murdered, and if you accept the kingship, it's highly likely you'll never be able to return home again. What would you do?

Anthology submissions are now closed, and we're working hard behind the scenes to get it all ready for publication.
