Happy July!

It's been a while! We've been sheltering in place for the past few months and continue to pray that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy as we ride out this pandemic.

Though we've been quiet we have been busy at work building out both our physical and virtual offerings.

We've formalized EY Creative, our services division and have had the honor to work on the NEW FIRE Festival Virtual Eco-Symposium and The Better Man EXPO by HAMIL'S Founder, Conrad Parris, who graces our cover this month.

We'll also catch up with happenings at East Gourmet and give more information on our exciting membership program, East Yard Circle.

The Better Man EXPO

Our newly minted creative services arm EY Creative was commissioned by Conrad Parris to coordinate HAMIL'S - The Better Man EXPO, June 19+20, 2021 to provide virtual event management, marketing roll out as well as hosting exclusive HAMIL'S content on our site while the HAMIL'S portal which will provide an online community space for Caribbean men is being built.

Set over a weekend that included both Labour Day and Father's Day, the virtual gathering delivered on its promise to feature 100% Trinidad and Tobago fare through the arts, fashion and personal grooming products and displays and conversations that spanned creative careers, financial health, mindfulness, local cuisine and more.

"The experience solidified for me the need to create a safe space for men to commune and bolster themselves and each other. It also highlighted women's ally-ship and interest in seeing men strive for improvement," - Conrad Parris, HAMIL'S 1921.

East Gourmet

East Gourmet is a carefully curated artisan and souvenir shop. East Gourmet boasts locally made confectioneries, chocolates, coffee, teas, honey, jams and sauces, soaps, lotions, candles, hair oils and butters, incense, bamboo lamps, and more.

Makeena James is the manager of East Gourmet:

"East Gourmet is the food and lifestyle translation of EAST YARD. All premium local offerings with the flavours, scents and ambiance to match. We offer a range of lifestyle items that ranges from food items to gifts to personal care. We get the same comments when people first visit "wow, I was not expecting this" Ironically being unapologetically local is what makes us unique. We stand by Trinbago style, food, colour, flavour and talent. So when patrons visit, there's no awkward need to adjust themselves, it's quirky and fancy but ultimately US."

For those in need of your favorite artisan food items, East Gourmet will soon reopen. Until then follow us on Instagram or reach out to Makeena at 868-344-4401 for info.

EAST YARD is a multidisciplinary physical and virtual arts platform and creative social enterprise that seeks to shine a targeted spotlight on Trinidad and Tobago works of art, literature, fashion, film, music, theater, cuisine and design being produced by up-and-coming artists and those from marginalized and under-represented communities.
