Open Doorways Orphanage Inc is a Beausejour charitable group that operates an orphanage in Haiti. Although there has been an increase in violence recently the children in the orphanage located at Deschapelles outside the capital are safe and also remain COVID free.
The children were able to attend school this past term. Additional information can be found at
www.opendoorwaysorphanage.ca.
Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre (
www.sandysaulteaux.ca) at Beausejour is an Aboriginal Theological and Ministry Training Program of the United Church of Canada that prepares Aboriginal people for lay and ordered ministry by affirming a style of leadership appropriate to Aboriginal culture. It also provides cross-cultural and spiritual awareness for the larger community. A recent addition to their programming is the Return of the Buffalo initiative on fostering family well-being. It means returning to the land, returning to Indigenous ways of life and returning to the teaching of respect for all relationships.
And another thing...
...and not-for-profit at that!
And now...
a bit of an apology. When I checked last week's "What's up" at 8:50 Sunday morning, I realized that the "hyperlink" that linked the word HERE to the Bethel Mennonite Church website didn't work, so I had to scramble and issue a revised "What's up" with that hyperlink in place. I managed to post it at 9:15 AM that morning, in the nick of time for the 10:00 AM worship service but sorry for any confusion.
