The nominations are flowing in for the Music Victoria Awards 2021.
Don't miss out! There's less than two weeks left to get your nomination together. Nominate yourself or your favourite Victorian music act, venue, producer, woman in music or festival of the year now.
There are loads of categories available including a brand new category for Best Pop Act. There's also a bunch of cash prizes up for grabs in excess of $12,000!
Submissions are open until midnight Tuesday 20 July. Shortlists will be published in September with nominee announcements to follow soon after.
Eligibility Criteria
For music categories – at least 50% of the act has been living in Victoria for the last two years or uses Melbourne as a home base. If you are performing under a solo artist name, you must reside in Victoria to be eligible (residency of backing band is not considered).
All genre categories will now be assessed on the act rather than album, with the requirement that nominees have released at least multiple recordings (ie: songs, works, pieces) between 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2021
For the producer category – Must have created or produced multiple recordings (ie: songs, works, pieces released between 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2021
For venues and festivals categories – Must have ran a music festival or active music venue in Victoria between 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2021 For the Music Victoria Awards 2021, in light of the COVID-19 crisis, the Best Venue and Festival categories include live streaming activity in the eligible time period.

City of Yarra Industry Day
On Monday, 19th of July, City of Yarra (in partnership with Music Victoria) are staging an Industry Day in appreciation of the work that musicians, small businesses, and freelancers do to keep the live music sector playing. This free event will be catered by Le Bon Ton and Young Henrys, and will feature a Qi Gong session with Rich Moffat.
Music Victoria will be hosting the morning session with a panel of experts unpack the Covid-19 issues of the day, from understanding the current restrictions to navigating the funding opportunities available. The panel will also shed light on the advocacy work taking place behind the scenes and how we can collectively forge the road ahead to enable the live music sector to reopen safely and effectively.
