LAKE TEKAPO – FRIDAY AUGUST 27^th2021

Dear Residents,
The South Canterbury Cancer Society co-ordinates Daffodil Day for Tekapo each year and it is that time again. As local Co-ordinator, I take pre-orders for beautiful bunches of daffodils and with help from a very enthusiastic team of Lions, are delivered to the recipient a few days prior to the street appeal on 27^thAugust 2021. The street appeal is held outside the Four Square.
This year, to streamline operations, only $55 bunches of 50, long-lasting blooms are available. They haven’t had a price rise for 17 years and I can certainly vouch for their quality. However, this is quite a step up for those of us who normally take the $35 bunches, especially in a tourist town without tourists, so I will totally understand if orders are put on hold this year. Orders need to be in by next Wednesday 28^thJuly.Payment is made via an invoice which is posted to you by the Society, so I just record your details. You can also order them for a friend and give them a gorgeous spring surprise.
Donations are tax deductible, especially if ordering for your business or accommodation. All money raised here is kept in South Canterbury.

Annie at Bespoke Bikes has quite allot of A2O brochures, and Waitaki brochures if any accommodation providers would like some.

Also, a good idea to phone her for said brochures and maps in case she's on manouveres over winter.

We are currently creating itineraries to add to our website for visitors so they know what is on offer in Tekapo - please email us any suggestions for inclusion laketekapopromotions@gmail.com

We are here to support our members - so if you or your group have an idea or project let us know - we cannot facilitate the project but may be able to support you financially and with community communications and connections. An excellent example is the amazing crew at ArtSpace Tekapo and Petronellas who are bringing us the Mackenzie Book and Art Festival in September.

Map Collection Point

** Please note that maps will now need to be purchased online before collection **

( this change is to frees up our treasurers time rather than chasing payment )

The map books ( $7 each ) are now distributed by the fabulous Annie OSullivan at her bike hire premises at 8 Simpson Lane. Please purchase online here then hand the purchase order to Annieand she will hand over the maps. Annies opening hours are variable over winter so email her before dropping in.

Also - We are going to do another run of maps but need someone with an eye for detail to edit them - if this is you please email us.

Community Development Update

'Severe weather events' remind us of the importance of being prepared, connected and supporting our neighbours in need. On Thursday 17th June, a number of support agencies are coming together for an Information Session under the banner 'Connect - Care - Prepare.'
