RevoLOOtion: An Original Interactive Production for the Community & New Collaborations (29 Apr – 1 May, 7 May)

ITI invited members of the arts community to the first final year production of the 2021 graduating cohort, RevoLOOtion. The performance-cum-workshop was devised by the graduating cohort under veteran theatre practitioner Li Xie’s direction. 

As part of the production, ITI collaborated with ITE College Central’s School of Design & Media’s Performance Production course, where students gained industry experience from the production team. The World Toilet Organisation was also involved as a publicity partner for RevoLOOtion — raising awareness about the importance of sanitation through the event's publicity.

Audience members described RevoLOOtion as “a smart show that is entertaining and thought-provoking [with] a brilliant bunch of graduating ITI students" and "a strong performance". More reactions can be read here.

Contributing Insights and Exchanging Perspectives on Arts and Culture in Singapore and the Region 

Sasi spoke about the importance of the arts in Singapore’s future, and The Substation’s significance in the local arts landscape on New Naratif's Political Agenda Podcast and The Historyogi Podcast. 

He was also invited to give the opening speech as the Guest of Honour at Grain Performance & Research Lab's The Remembering Resource (II), a two-week series of various creative encounters, held online and at The Arts House. On the second day of the programme, Sasi joined a panel of arts practitioners in an intergenerational dialogue session, A Road Less Travelled, where he spoke about Theatre OX, theatre-making and actor training. 

Sasi has been invited to speak on cultural diplomacy at the Public Diplomacy in Asia 2021 virtual conference on 28 July, organised by the Singapore International Foundation (SIF). He also joins the judging panel for the 2022 Epigram Books Fiction Prize, alongside Professor Shirley Chew, Amir Muhammad, Margaret Thomas and Edmund Wee.

• Sankar Venkateswaran (‘06) and Lina Yu (‘14) were speakers in The Chowk Reprise, a three-day online symposium that brought together arts practitioners and scholars from Singapore, India and the United States
   
• Grace Kalaiselvi (‘14) and Sonia Kwek (‘17) are presenting digital exhibitions on Tamil culture and the exploration of the body respectively in T:>Works' Festival of Women N.O.W. 2021
   
• Liz Sergeant Tan (‘16) is a part of JustAsk’s The Experience, a digital experiential exhibition that aims to encourage more conversations on mental health and to spread compassion for mental illness in the local community 
   
• Zelda Tatiana Ng (‘03) was the curator and facilitator of Translation & Adaptation: Exploring Possibilities, an online platform by GroundZ-0 and Singapore Book Council, created for artists to explore the boundaries of translation and adaptation of works
   
• Ramith Ramesh (‘20) conducted several workshops on Kutiyattam for the arts community in India, as well as for students from ACS International School in Singapore and Escuela del Actor (Actor School) in Uruguay 
   
• Regina Foo (‘17) is leading Access Path Production’s Participatory Arts weekly programmes, focusing on creating theatre through the disability arts lens
