Dear Educator,

As we finish another STET Education season, we want to share with you our closing newsletter for the school year.

“...extremity was the trier of spirits ... when the sea was calm all boats alike showed mastership in floating”

― William Shakespeare, Coriolanus

After a calm beginning

Our ship set sail in fairly calm waters, but soon we rolled with the tides of corona measures. It became a tempestuous school year! STET Education once again proved its resilience and spirit as we continued to provide you with original English-theatre content.

The forces that kept Illyria company away this year were matched by creativity and innovation. Unable to come to Raadhuis De Paauw for their yearly Open Air Shakespeare performance and workshops, we will see them next year!

Hoisting new sails, The Globe Players, that funny, lively company from England got online and presented an entertaining screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s plays to hundreds of students joining at home.

The magic didn’t stop

And then there was Caja van der Poel. Relentless and full of creative energy, she had young school children mesmerized again and again with her magical storytelling. We were so happy that they could go to school and kids did not miss out on Caja's rich and educational English stories, in person.

Look out in the future, for rubbish! It’s a workshop! For primary schools, Rebecca Poole leads kids through a fishy story with discarded litter and stimulates ideas to solve the world garbage problem.

Collaboration gets us through

Back to our secondary school students, who are probably right now gathering for the year end’s largest final session, The Collaboration Workshops. We are stronger when we work together. This is also the theme of another great workshop taking place under the header, Ubuntu, which literally means, “I am, because you are”. What a great way to reunite after a year of distancing.

Join us too for an exciting new season in September. Our newsletter is the best way to stay in touch. Why not get some other teachers and educators on board?
Forward this email to colleagues you think might like to take us on their journey. Newcomers can subscribe to our Primary or Secondary Newsletters here.

And then?

We propose a number of exciting new workshops next year, diverse in origin and format, truly groundbreaking and educational: a university tour showing “Jogging” from Beirut and The Deaf Workshop for all school ages, as well as hands-on teacher workshops to help them keep their hand on the rudder.

Our strength is that we appeal to a wide audience and a large range of ages and, phew! what a year, we are proud to serve you and the students of schools all over the Netherlands. Thank you for your support and see you on a stage somewhere next season!
