If you’ve been out near Peanut Lake this month you might have encountered a group of hard-working individuals from the Western Colorado Conservation Corps (WCCC). This summer, CBLT has been fortunate to be able to host the WCCC as part of a grant funded by Great Outdoor Colorado to pursue efforts in conservation. The WCCC is working for three weeks on CBLT land, focusing on noxious weeds and fencing projects. We can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work! If you see these folks out tending to your conserved lands- be sure to say hello!

This summer the Crested Butte Long Lake Planning Committee has been working to identify and implement long term management strategies for one of Crested Butte’s most treasured recreation resources, Long Lake. The committee, which is made up of numerous local stakeholders, has been identifying trails for official use and also working to pinpoint areas that can be restored. They will be implementing more signage for recreators to protect private property and grazing lands and better utilize designated recreational areas. With summer in full swing, we hope you’ve been able to enjoy some quality time up at the lake and dip your toes into this conserved slice of paradise. Thank you for helping us keep Long Lake enjoyable for all!
