Marian + Quinn Bonnell + Matt Comeau

Artists Marian, Quinn Bonnell and Matt Comeau collaborated to perform The Ballad of Crowfoot by Willie Dunn, a Mi'kmaq songwriter who composed this song in 1968. Dylan Ward of Marian said: "I felt compelled to do something after the first discoveries of unmarked graves at residential schools; to use to my voice, and put what I was feeling into something. It's hard to articulate how tragic this all is, how frustrating the nation to nation relations are, and how this complexity is overwhelming. This song captures all that."   +++ info >

David Myles' New Single

Supreme sonic stylist David Myles and his all-star band of players return with “Hawkshaw,” sharing the second glimpse of forthcoming instrumental album, That Tall Distance (out 08/27).  Drummer Joshua Van Tassel would take Myles’ initial offering, seek to understand the essence of it, and then create the grooves that would give each song a heartbeat. Van Tassel shines all over the record, but halfway through the funk odyssey of “Hawkshaw,” a deluge of percussion sets in to help the tune really blossom. +++ info >
