To all global volunteers:

In the last five years, during this time of transition and evolution, members have been added to the Governing Board in different ways, depending on the most pressing needs of the moment.  The current Board members are interested in developing a standardized process that can be implemented whenever the time to add an additional Board member or members comes up. 
Our intention, consistent with the Contemplative Outreach (CO) Guidelines for Service and Contemplative Outreach LTD by-laws, is to always include the active membership of Contemplative Outreach in the process of selecting Governing Board members.  This process will include:
 
-- a broad-based search across the worldwide community
-- appointment of a nominating committee to review candidates
-- requests for nominations using all communications methods
-- publishing of detailed descriptions of roles and qualifications
 
As we develop the process within these guidelines, we welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.  Please submit ideas or suggestions to Jenny Adamson, adamsonje6@gmail.com, before July 31st.
 
While some of you may be knowledgeable about the current Governing Board of Contemplative Outreach, LTD, we would like to share some information about us since we serve all of you and we value being transparent in what we do.
 
Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Governing Board seeks unity to collaboratively set the vision, articulate the mission, approve the strategic plan and annual budget, and hire an administrator when needed.  The Governing Board is also responsible for other matters required of a non-profit organization.
 
In the current by-laws, the Governing Board is to have 7-11 members who represent the diversity of the Global Contemplative Outreach organism.  The terms are for three years and a member can decide to serve an additional three-year term but no more than that. Currently the Board has conference calls of an hour or more twice a month and meets in person at two or three times during the year.
 
Your ideas and/or suggestions will be reviewed by the selection team and application forms with additional information will be available by August 1st.
