Canada's Best Summer Job!
As many Canadians suffer serious cabin fever, Hipcamp celebrates its Canadian launch with the Canada’s Best Summer Job competition.
The winner will spend 40 days blogging or vlogging across the nation – earning $20,000 as well as a stipend for food and travel. “We fell in love with the idea of offering one lucky Canadian the paid opportunity to adventure across the country and experience some of the best outdoor stays Canada has to offer,” said Hipcamp CEO Alyssa Ravasio.

Labour Shortages, Closed Borders, Major Obstacle to BC Restaurant, Tourism Restart
Ian Tostenson, B.C. Restaurant and Foodservices Association president, said the industry is gearing up for a full reopening without restrictions, but is facing a reduced workforce.
Tostenson said he expected a hot job market for potential restaurant employees this summer. He suggested potential employees apply in person.“These (employers) are not sitting at the back looking at banks of computers,” Tostenson said. “Go there, look good, put a smile on your face and say you want a job. Chances are you’ll be hired.”

Port Alberni to Expropriate Somass Sawmill from Western Forest Products
“It’s a big step; very significant,” Mayor Sharie Minions said. “It’s probably the most important property within the City of Port Alberni: 43 acres of waterfront land right in the heart of our community. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any action on redevelopment of this site, or alternatively, re-opening the site as a sawmill.”Minions said council would like to see a mix of public, residential and light industrial use on the lands.
