New Covid Protocols Beginning June 27
The What’s Next Committee met this week to review CDC and the State of New Jersey guidelines related to Covid-19 and how they might guide our church’s plan for loving each other well. We are pleased to announce the following updates to our church’s protocols related to Covid-19.
Beginning Sunday, June 27:
- All who are fully vaccinated may choose whether or not to wear a mask in worship and other church activities. This includes worship leaders as well as people in the congregation.
- Those who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear masks in keeping with CDC and the New Jersey Department of Health guidelines.
- Two sections of the sanctuary will be designated for social distancing. These sections will have pews marked with a bow to guide where people sit. There will be two empty pews between each pew for worshippers in this area and these pews will be near the open windows for extra ventilation. The social distance areas will be the section near the windows along the driveway side of the church (the organ side of the sanctuary) and the balcony on the piano side of the church. The pews in the other sections will all be available to select as you wish.
- We will continue to use individually packaged communion elements, place our offerings in the plate in the reception area outside the sanctuary, and share joys and concerns using the flip chart.
- Fellowship time following worship will return to the air-conditioned Upper Titus Hall. Bottled water and individually packaged snacks will remain in place.
- Groups, Committees, and Boards may meet using zoom or in person at the church, as they choose. Again, fully vaccinated people may choose to wear masks or not, and unvaccinated people are encouraged to mask.
- All groups meeting at the church must be in contact with Eva to be added to the church calendar. office@pennpres.org
We remain committed to live-streaming our worship service each Sunday for those of you who find worshipping from home the best choice.
We rejoice that our community has a high level of vaccination and is doing well. We pray for others in our country and around the world who are not yet vaccinated and Covid-19 threatens life, livelihood, and well-being. The What’s Next team will continue to monitor the health of our community, be guided by science, and informed by the CDC and the NJ Department of Health. We will update these protocols as needed.
This has been a long season for all of us. Thank you for being patient and for doing your best to love God and love your neighbor. We look forward to the joy of worshipping, learning, connecting, and serving from our church facility, and from the satellite branches of our church in your own homes.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of What’s Next.
In Christ,
Nancy Mikoski with Hope Anderson, Gary Coleman, Kim Newport, Corinne Orlando, Joe Tully, and Clarke Walker
